My cats are both getting up there and I'm dreading that day. I'm really sorry to hear that TC. Usually they only advise that if they think the quality of life is pretty bad. It's gonna hurt but it gets better. Remember you gave them the best life.

damn, someone had to put down their dog yesterday because of breathing troubles that got worse. i had to put my own cat to sleep a year or two ago because of cancer.

My condolences. Lost my first cat to heart failure a year and a half ago. The loyalty and love he gave me was much more akin to a dog than your average cat.
One day he didn't come running out to love me when I came from work, hid all day, and didn't sleep in bed with me at night. Couldn't treat it. His quality of life nosedived over the next few weeks.
