Well?

The ending in Rogue One was epic imo. And the story was ten times better than The force awakens.
But that might just be me.

Rogue One felt like an attempt at a Star Wars story. TFA felt like they were trying to retell a Star Wars story with flashier visuals and less charm.

TFA is tied (or almost) with ESB, for me, so it gets my vote

Legit first time I've almost fallen asleep in a movie with Rogue One.

I'm 100% awake even with the shittiest stuff but all I cared with this was seeing more Vader.

TFA was good but it was pretty much a huge set up movie like ANH. Doing that twice in one series is too much.

Saw it again recently though and it really got me hyped for Episode 8.

Rogue One. Rey was just so unlikable. Still a good movie, but she made the whole thing awkward, along with how many "mysteries" (Including her) were involved in the movie.

I'm as a big a SW fan as anybody, I have so much SW shit around my house it's sad, but I will say the one thing I no longer love about the franchise is the endless "mysteries" and twists about each character etc etc. The franchise has always been chasing the "No, I am your father" moment since ESB and it's unnecessary.

It's Space Opera, so on one hand I don't mind the twists still being a part of it. And from a practical standpoint, part of it is probably by design because everyone is making the story up as they go along (including Lucas back in the day). And the the "mysteries" allow them leeway to figure shit out down the line in the next movies.

But it's now become the focal point of the series as a hook, and it's annoying.

And they're so blatant and in your face now, too. "I fought with your father in the clone wars" was just a throwaway line, whatever, but TFA was chock FULL of loose ends that were intended to be disclosed later. There were so many, it was completely unsatisfying, instead of having just one or two big ones to think about for the next movie(s).
