Unless they changed it, mages in general lower your score a bit due to their lower bst.

Well yeah but unless you're gunning for full Armor Emblem, mages aren't going to affect your BST much unless you're stacking your team with them. Reinhardt has one of the worst stat totals in the game (ranged cavalry and all that) and people don't hesitate with running him!

Sooo I just found out about the hidden mechanic within "Surrender" in Arena, emphasis on HIDDEN. Boy, oh boy, this would have made things less excruciating since the beginning.

I think he means surrendering if you don't like the potential score/lead enemy so you can keep your current streak.

Man. Just had a deathless arena run ruined because my finger slipped and sent Felicia to the wrong tile. Wish there was an option to undo your last previous action because that's not the first time that's happened to me.

God, I really hate it when that happens. You literally have to confirm you see the attack icon before you release your finger. Otherwise, you may think youre going in for the offense, but you end up moving to an unintended spot and that usually spells doom.

That sounds more like an exploit. Wouldn't be surprised if IS decides to get rid of that down the line.

Nah. It's clearly a feature. Otherwise what would even be the point of surrendering, keeping in mind it's not like you can do it after seeing their actual team or anything.

Like, otherwise you'd always want to at least try to win.

While we're talking about ruined arena runs, today mine was ruined because I didn't know Amelia's armor march bullshit let armor guys move over trees without penalty. I'm kind of mad about it.

Somehow, I'm having a lot more luck with Hector/BK/Reinhardt than I did with Reinhardt/Lyn/Roy on the defense team. I think I had around 20 defenses last week with Azura and already got two this week with Tiki. I would think that armors are a lot easier to beat, but I guess not.

I wonder if I can get back into tier 19 with a full HE team. I might need to incorporate BK.

I'm thinking Rein/Cecilia/Xander/Lyn for full HE, but if I need BK for higher scoring, should I do Rein/Cecilia/Xander/BK or Lyn/Cecilia/Xander/BK? Rein has Fortify Cavalry and would help raise Cecilia's Atk to astronomical heights and he checks BK better than Lyn. I was also thinking if I'm using BK, it might make more sense to swap Xander with Roy and give him Hone Cavalry.

Had a 2 death arena run for 4690 points which I think should be enough to make Tier 20, but if not I can try again for the extra 150 or so points.

Still running Ryoma+2/Hector/Effie with Cecilia as my Bonus.

I can promise you 4690 won't get you in Tier 20. I've gotten 47xx so many times and failed.

same. used Roy + Reinhardt + 2 dancers. after lunatic, i was worried my -spd Roy wouldn't be able to double the blue mage, but he had JUST enough with darting blow, hone spd, and goad cav. not sure what i would have done if that didn't work. i guess i could have gotten up to 3 more spd with spd seal and replacing the second dancer with Titania/Gunter to kill the lance cav so i can get hone cav instead of just hone spd. it doesn't look like there's any way to fit Camus in there to get 2 goads + hone spd.

I went with Lyn, Roy, Olwen and a dancer. I wasn't expecting to win on turn one, but it just happened. Galeforce Roy is so good

I just beat the infernal GHB with Hinoka, Soren, Olivia, and Ninian. I just got Ninian as a free pull from that voting gauntlet banner, and she's already putting in quite a bit of work.

Finally got enough blue great badges to finish the Distant Defense seal. Looking at the remaining seals that need blue seals...

Spur Spd seal
Phantom Spd seal
Deflect Missile seal
Spd+ seal
(Probably the Squad Ace seal that gives +1 speed but I don't have that yet)

Speed seal is nice, but it looks like I got the highest priority blue seal out of the way. I'll probably do the Panic Ploy(colorless) seal next? Though one of the deflects may also be useful.

The Hardy Bearing seal is way underrated. So many people in Arena run Vantage on at least one character.

Arvis seems underwhelming and I don't like his art or him as a character, so I fed his Def Ploy to Felicia without much regret. Anyone else doing something similar?

Arvis seems ok. Like a red Sonya. Except Sonya has a better tome and counters Reinhardt. His B skill seems wasted on him imo. I'd love to transfer that if I could, and can't help but think that he'd be better suited to a breaker.

Tharja and Sanaki fulfill my red mage needs and I haven't played FE4 so I have no plans to promote him anytime soon. I might sacrifice one to slap defense ploy onto Innes. Haven't decided on that yet.

Red in general is pretty weak in this meta (mostly due to Reinhardt, but it's still true). I can see why people would want Arvis if they don't have a red mage at all, but I have Tharja and I never need anything more.

I'm close to pulling the trigger on merging up my Tharja. I have the resources sitting around to get her up to +5 now.

It's useful to have extras mainly for arena assault. Tharja and Sanaki typically get brought in for me. I have a crappy nature Katarina that I suppose would be worse than Arvis, but I rarely have a need for a third mage in arena assault. It's just not worth it.

eh, there's still plenty of Hector/Bike/Nino/Julia/Cecilia in arena. i'm gonna promote him cause i like him despite already having Tharja/Sanaki/Celica. i assume he'll be a bonus unit for the next TT and in a couple weeks in arena.

I knew a free Ayra was too good to be true. Threw 40 orbs at it and got Sanaki and a 4* Tharja. Tempted to commit more but will try to wait for next banner reveal

Ayra being a banner unit is really disgusting. Like, actually a bit upsetting, lol.

Pulled for her and got her anyway, thankfully only took 40ish orbs so I'm still set if they do a triple trap and release a Halloween banner.

So yeah, I did a bit of calculations. Ayra having a +Spd nature, her sword, Swift Sparrow, and a Rally Speed puts her at or over 50 Speed on attack.

Yes, that's 20 bonus damage every battle since there's no one she can't double by this point (because of Regnal Astra and it's 2 Cooldown).

Started pulling for Ayra, blew through my remaining 60 orbs and got nothing for my troubles except a +Def -Spd Effie that I merged my +Def -HP into.

+Atk -Spd would be better but this is the second best IV for her so I'm definitely not complaining.

Like...yeah, she's good for a melee sword unit. Melee sword unit is just not an archetype I particularly need. Pulled hard for Elincia and got her, and still not using her on my main arena team.

+SPD Lyn with horse emblem buffs doesn't get doubled. Nor does anyone with swordbreaker, and a decent number of units do run swordbreaker. (Ike comes with it, for example).

I don't really need Ayra at all with the reds I have. But I want her. . I spent more orbs than I wanted to to get her. Down to 119 orbs now.

She's -def + res. Good enough. Now I have Kagero +2 and Sanaki +1. So that's cool

i mean Lachesis is only 20% and we all have Arvis and will have Arden at 20%, too, so obviously 40% would be better.

imo Sigurd; he's more unique and you have a better chance at a 40% focus on that banner (because if you don't get any reds in a session you might get one of the other two). though Ayra might be a touch better.
