-Try to keep your deck to 20 cards. That way you have a better chance of getting the cards you want to draw.

-imo go for Ultimate Rising first. They have really good cards in that pack to help build a good deck. Neo-Impact is probably good for your 2nd pack.

-Try to have around half your deck to be monster cards

-level up Mai and Bandit Keith to lvl 25 asap for some of the best cards in the game

1) It's fun.
2) It's much simpler than the main game, both in structure and card selection. 3 monster zones, 3 spell/trap zones, 4 card in your starting hand, 20-30 cards in your deck. All less than the normal Yugioh card game.
3) Right now, the game doesn't have any of the later-added summoning types (Synchro, Xyz, Pendulum) but it does have cards and archetypes from these eras that don't relate to those summoning types. Naturias, Ghostricks, Ice Barriers, and many more archetypes from the later days are at least partially represented.
3a) I say right now the game doesn't have them, but they are coming later on. Dataminers have already found voice clips in the game's data of original series characters (like Yugi, and Pegasus) saying they're going to Synchro/Xyz/Pendulum summon a monster. But GX characters were only added to the game a couple weeks ago, so the later series won't be added for a pretty long time.
4) It's fun.
5) Since it's a mobile game, there is some grinding and a way to buy card packs to accelerate the grind. But just by focusing on 1-2 boxes, you can build a solid deck pretty quickly.
6) You've already missed some past events that gave exclusive characters and cards, but these events are repeated every once in a while. Don't worry about them.
