it's worth playing. the story mission is only like 30 mins long anyway so you may as well just to see the ending which leads into the beginning of TPP.

It's completely skippable if you want it to be. The cutscenes from GZ are even touched in the TPP.

GZ is good, but was clearly meant to be the opening mission of a single game. It got parceled out as it's own release probably due to Kojima wasting millions of dollars so he could jerk himself off to the idea of directing Keifer Sutherland

I don't think the free version comes with Ground Zeroes, but maybe it does. Ground Zeroes was also free on GWG a year and a half ago, IIRC.
