Good episode. I missed last week's, sounds like the general consensus is I didn't miss much. It is a little bit odd seeing tribes of 5 and 6 so early on after watching the Australian version lately (with twice as many).

What was their pre-game connection?

They were part of the same college friend group. It was one of those really big ones so they hadn't kept in contact/weren't particularly close to begin with, which is probably how it slipped by casting.

Season is doing a pretty good job of making us not give a shit about the early boots, which doesn't bode well for Roark and Desi.

Roark was my winner pick, but having a UTR1 in the second episode does not bode well for her chances. I don't remember if she got a line in the shelter but I think she did. She did get name-dropped by Probst. BARELY enough for a UTR1, but she was still the biggest non-factor in this episode. Her winner chances are now ~1% at most. Not looking good for me.

Desi got a little backstory, which bodes better for her, but the Healers aren't getting too much of a focus. Might turn out to be a Tandang: A tribe dominant in the challenges but affected by an at-camp rivalry (in this case, Dr. Mike vs. Joe), with the others having less relevance. Would expect Roark and Desi to go post-swap or early merge.

I doubt the Healers go to Tribal pre-swap unless Cole and Jessica throw a challenge to blindside Joe's idol. Doing so would be a deeply stupid idea, of course. Cole seems like a pretty smart guy that's too nice to excel in Survivor, so I don't think it fits his MO. Him telling Joe that the idol was at the well (like Katrina told us it was in her exit press) was instinctive. Having instincts that friendly in a cutthroat game will screw you over. There's no doubt: Cole is our Golden Boy.

What was their pre-game connection?

Went to college together. I believe they lived on the same floor of the same apartment building. She remembers him better than he remembers her, since she asked him to help one of her friends move. That's about all I know.

Did we get a Full Throttle topic mourning Simone yet? She was his favorite, after all.

I thought I'd "love to hate" her, but I ended up liking her. Looking at exit press briefly, it seems like Simone was too open about everything. Might have included her political activism, which is a TERRIBLE thing to bring up on Survivor. Per the Bloomberg Rules, it's a great way to ostracize yourself regardless of where you stand. She was too open about herself and that may have annoyed her tribe - but I think she's missing what irritated her tribe the most.

Simone wins major points for knowing who Skinny Ryan is though (see Gordon Holmes word association). She's also quite humble and didn't even care that she was edited out of the premiere - she was more bummed that Katrina was a non-factor! End result, Simone is not the kind of player I thought she'd be. Major kudos to her for that.

Could be pre-merge, or she could be that totally irrelevant last standing member of a Pagong'd alliance.

Could also be that she's just completely irrelevant to the story thus far. If the Cole/Jessica showmance and Mike/Joe feud need to established, then there's no time left for Roark (and Desi I guess) given that the Healers haven't been to Tribal Council.

Nah. If you didn't know Ali, yeah. But the Healer women have been almost entirely ignored, outside of us knowing Colessica is a thing.

You know what? I think I'll do my first ever full analysis. I already have a lot I want to say but I'm going to rewatch episodes 1 and 2 first and really make sure.

my process for analysing the edit went:
1. watch episode casually
2. rewatch episode meticulously, making sure to summarize every moment of every scene (this takes a few hours)
3. rank the castaways from best to worst (a few minutes)
4. go back through summary and see if my 'ranking' (#3) is substantiated (a few more minutes)
5. write each castaways blurb based on what i'm seeing in the summary, as well as why i have them at X spot (can take anywhere from an hour to several hours if i have a lot to say)

it's a bit tiring but other than MvGX it worked for me rather well

i disliked Game Changers and don't care that i skipped it, but this season is looking pretty fun at the moment. i've already gone back and rewatched both episodes, particularly with a few castaways in mind (just skip to their tribes scenes).

Chrissy seemslike a good pick but I didn't like her saying she was running the show this week. It's too early and seems like a setup for a fall.

My darkhorse pick is the chick who was flirting with Cole on the raft. She hasn't had to do anything but they chose to give her positive content.

Adam is the winner to me (I don't dislike him - he reminds me of me in some ways), but David was the best player. David's story is the exact same as Cirie's in Exile Island - going from being afraid of nature in the first episode to blossoming into a phenomenal all-around player. Remember: The best player doesn't always win. MvX was a case of that.

Australian Survivor Episode 24
Meh. Still hate that twist, but I like how they improved upon it here from Kaoh Rong. One, it's at the final four and the person voting a juror out might not even make the end. Two, Jericho got to ask three jurors questions - production likely encouraged him to talk to people he was considering voting out and not ask "Hey Luke, buddy! Who here would never vote for me?" (which is what I'd have done in his shoes). Also, that challenge was AWESOME. I hope that one comes over here. I hope the twist never returns. It's garbage and doing it here robs us of Tessa's sunshine.

I think Jericho made a lot of great calls here. He gathered an excessive amount of information regarding which jurors are close to which of the final four and how the jury will be voting. He now realizes that Tara, the only person in this episode who was not discussed as a finalist and the only one who was not shown talking about winning, is the optimal jury goat. Pete also mentioned being voted out, so he's likely 4th based on a number of factors (edit, friends on jury, etc.). But I think Jericho cuts Michelle at the final 3 after winning the final immunity (which will be the same challenge as last year, given how incredible it was). Jericho then beats Tara handily in the finals.

Australian Survivor Episode 24:

Agree with a lot of that last post, but possibly disagree on the boot order - I would have put your #3 and 4 in the opposite order. Michelle seems to be getting way too confident and as her early edit was not great - I think she goes soon. Peter is still a goat, but could screw things up if he gets some favourable challenges and takes Tara to the end. Jericho does seem like he should be the winner this season edit wise. I know Tara probably won't be winning any challenges after that pathetic challenge effort, but she probably sticks around, as she isn't a threat.

I did like the challenge too, not happy we don't see any more of Tessa now (jury vote out sucks) and would have done like you said if it was allowed (to ask an ally on the jury for info on who the best person to vote out is).

Note I wrote almost all of the above just before seeing Ep 25, didn't get time to post it. Didn't go back and edit anything after seeing the next one, so comments aren't affected by Ep 25.

Episode 25 spoilers:

Good on you Tara! Finally sort of earned her place in the game by not just going the easy vote. Ended up with the best result of the two possibilities after Peter got immunity (as everyone wants to take Tara to the end - she was never getting voted out).

Not sure why Michelle got so upset with Jericho after their conversation - pretty much gave it away she was voting against him, she got too cocky and it bit her when Tara took it to fire. Classic.

I think Jericho would have won a lot of respect from that tribal council, and no way he loses now if he makes final 2. As it is the same challenge as last year based on the preview (at night this time!), he would have to be a reasonable chance of winning it. Peter takes Tara if he wins the challenge (worst final 2 ever?), so Tara is probably going to be in the Final 2 either way. Tara doesn't win the challenge, we can rule that much out. 99% sure it's Jericho's win, but he still needs to outlast Peter, then it becomes a 100% certainty.

My Big Brother 2 ReWatch:


I am 11 episodes in and I know Will Kirby wins but what I am having a completely hard time figuring out HOW and I guess I am going to have to wait in see. I just don't understand how they thought the "Chilltown" alliance was going to win this game, and I guess they do technically. ChillTown just does the things you aren't supposed to do from what I have seen from Modern Big Brother.

Also, without a Veto Comp these episodes could probably be cut in half. There is not a lot going on in 2 of the 4 episodes in the big brother week. It's hasn't been great but I am passed a third of the way.

Thoughts as I watch it live...
Getting straight to the final challenge, suggests it may go for a while. Forgot about a few of these earlier vote outs who were entertaining - definitely some great casting choices this season.

This challenge would suck in the dark, will they beat last year's time?

Name drop of last season's winner. How many more times I wonder?

Jericho will do this easy. No real surprise Tara is first out, nearly 3 hours isn't too bad.

Peter looks pretty wrecked. Over 5 hours? Good effort based on those waves. Still not as good as last time. Jericho guaranteed $500K, and still being nice to whoever gets voted out. Fire getting put out by the wave was expected - thought the torches would have gone the same way.

Really, these two trying to justify why they deserve to stay over the other nearly makes them look worse. Guessing Peter goes. Yep.

Keep pretending you are a chance Tara - you should have been out pre-merge, instead of switching (very lucky). I'm thinking 7-2, maybe 6-3 at worst to Jericho pre TC.

Decent speech from Tara. Uh-oh, Jericho's speech not doing so well with some on the jury. May not be so one sided?

Aus Survivor Reunion - again thoughts as I watch live, including the winner.

Amazing how the bridge and opera house are always shown in any shots of Sydney, no matter where it is taken from.

And the vote is in ...6-3! Was a bit unsure on one of those votes, called it wrong apparently. Deserved winner and at least it didn't ruin the season completely. Hope they reveal who voted for who, but they probably don't.

That group of 24 looks huge - now to see how many get to speak. My guess - just over half.

Yes, you need to build the hut Tara. Seriously? Never seen the show before?

Well, most are getting at least a line. Jonathan is still doing much better at this in speaking to most people compared to Jeff. Possibly controversial call - I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up hosting the US season one day, as Jeff seems to have lost a bit of interest in recent years. I think he's been really good as host.

Lee and El in the crowd huh? Guessing they get to speak and others don't. Peter for example. I can see why he deseves to be ignored though.

Luke was classic. So annoyed Peter didn't switch to Ziggy in that vote and keep him in a bit longer. Think he was serious with the bikini part - that would have been hilarious. Loved the spy shack.

Lots still yet to day anything (I think 8, may have miscounted). 2 mins left according to the TV guide, but think it is about 10 mins out.
