I'll be honest, I get paid close to that and typically the only truly busy time are the first four or five business days of the month. After that I have regular reports to run and projections to make and what not but I've streamlined almost all of it so much so that many of them are done automatically. There are usually several days a week where I literally don't have to do any work at all the entire day. Most Fridays I work from home and "work".

This topic is more or less what I thought office jobs were.

Mainly became a teacher because it seemed less boring. If nothing else it definitely is basically impossible to have nothing to do at work

Damn, I'm in the wrong career track then. I make a 6-figure salary, but I work most of my day and on the weekends when we have big projects.

I mean, if I really wanted to, I could easily be in management but that's the thing, I just can't see myself being able to work myself so much like that unless I was working for myself. Which is exactly what I've been laying the ground work to do. I have no interest moving up for my company or any company.

I think office job peeps requires people to work overtime and on Sundays if needed and they dont get paid extra for any of it.

Kind of sucks about my work place that they decided to install some of kind net nanny on our work internet that doesn't allow us to visit a lot of websites because our boss got sick and tired of us surfing on the internet instead of doing our job (which is stupid because most of us can do both just fine). Surprisingly gamefaqs is not affected (which is why you'll occasionally see me post on here during work hours), but places like neogaf and reddit are blocked. It's so fucking stupid, but luckily he hasn't heard stuff like proxy's yet.

This can be true depending on the job and your responsibilities. But generally speaking, if you can't complete your tasks within the normal M-F 9-5 window, then you probably fucked up somewhere and that's why you have to work late or on weekends to play catch-up.

Again, generally speaking, of course. I'm sure there are very busy jobs out there that not many people can do in a 9-5 window.

Fortunately in my time in corporate America, I've never worked a job where I've had to work overtime. Everywhere I've ever worked has been extremely laid back and understand the concept of work-life balance.

If you're in the accounting field during the busy seasons, if you work for one of the big public firms, you literally have to work at minimum 55 hours to 80 hours a week. Of course when the busy season is over, there's a lot of downtime afterwards which makes the work feel somewhat worth it.

Besides the 4-5 busy days you mentioned then you've described my job to a tee.

The biggest thing in an office job is spreading 2 hours of work across 8 hours. Course my job doesn't require me to be in the office all 8 hours like most. I can just come and go as I please.

Oh I'm a Data Center Engineer in case anyone was wondering. Spend my free work time on gfaqs, listening to music, working on my Retropie, and studying for my certifications or python for fun.
