Any villains?

MGS1 - Ocelot was on Snakes side all along, and even though he was double crossing even Snake, he was doing his part in achieving The Boss's/Big Boss's dream of world peace. Same with Liquid since he just wanted to follow in Big Boss's footsteps. The ends could have justified the means.

MGS2 - I suppose Fatman? But even he was a Patriot plant and part of the master plan to achieve The Boss's dream. None of the others fit the bill.

MGS3 - I guess Volgin is a villain, but still not really? He just wanted to become Russia's leader. Nuking shit is pretty bad but he was nuking enemy territory.

MS4 - Nobody here is anywhere close to being a villain

Peace Walker - Same thing again. Everyone is either MSF or Patriots

i havnt finished MGS5 but child liquid spends a fair amount of time in Motherbase and would definitely know what kind of person Big Boss is

Metal Gear Solid was infinitely better when Big Boss was a villain and not some misunderstood whiney anti hero tbqh.

Although I guess they half assed tried to make him a villain again by the end of MGS V so it's whatever. Just like they tried to half ass his motivations in Peace Walker to fix the massive fuck up that was MGS4.

neither Big Boss nor any of the other Snakes (besides maybe Solid) wanted world peace, and Liquid and Solidus were straight up villains

they just weren't as cartoony as Volgin

1 - Liquid hated Big Boss and was not folllowing his vision at all.

2 - Solidus, while trying to defeat the Patriots, wanted the power for himself and also created child soldiers in Africa.

3 - Volgin, quite clearly.

4 - None, you're right about this one.

Act 3 was the worst part in any MGS game - coupled with the worst boss. 4 was trying too hard to be nostalgic and the enemies were boring.

At least 5 made up for it a bit.

Honestly, my favorite part of 4 was MGO.

IIRC, Big Boss wanted a world where soldiers had value, where they only fought for what they wanted...in a world of constant war

and the Patriots wanted full control, where they controlled info and "context"...and if they found something unsavory, it'd be pulled out of history

For how smart MGS fanboys act they really Fucking miss most of the underlying points.

MGS was almost nothing but villains. The whole point of MGS4s ending was that Snake ended up being the only good guy. (Well him and his "crew")

To be fair, Kojima completely flip/flops motivations between MGS4 Peace Walker and V so it makes sense that people seem to miss that point.

Like MGS4 makes it seem like everything that happened was a mistake nobody planned on and all they wanted to do was make a perfect world like The Boss wanted.

Then Peace Walker comes around, and Zero and Cipher are complete fucking assholes and Big Boss completely rejects the Bosses will.

But then MGS V comes out, and it turns out Zero was comatose most of the time.

So like, even Kojima couldn't make his fucking mind up.

Even if people don't consider it flip flopping, there isn't any doubt that Big Boss and Zero both became villains by the end.

You can say Big Boss found redemption, but he was still a villain for the things he did and the ideals he held. And by extension, Ocelot and the rest of those that follow Liquid are also villains.
