After months of hammering Republicans over their failure to repeal Obamacare, President Donald Trump huddled this week with moderate House Democrats and Republicans who were trying to sell him on a fix to the health care law.

Upon hearing it had bipartisan support, the president had one question: “Can I call it ‘repeal and replace’?”

“You can call it whatever you want, Mr. President,” a Democratic lawmaker told Trump, eliciting laughter throughout the room.

There was an antifa professor on Tucker Carlson who was arguing the same point JaKyL generally makes about handling white supremacists and neo-nazis, i.e. that what they are saying is actually threats and they are standing up to them in public squares. That they do not have a right to speak in public unopposed when they threaten to eliminate large swathes of the American public.

Of course Tucker asked loaded questions like "do you tell your students that the 1st amendment doesn't apply to everyone?" because Tucker wants to be Hannity-lite.

Some more details about Jeff previously offering to resign:

https://mobile.nytimes.com/2017/09/14/us/politics/jeff-sessions-trump.html

Shortly after learning in May that a special counsel had been appointed to investigate links between his campaign associates and Russia, President Trump berated Attorney General Jeff Sessions in an Oval Office meeting and said he should resign, according to current and former administration officials and others briefed on the matter.

The president attributed the appointment of the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, to Mr. Sessions?s decision to recuse himself from the Justice Department?s Russia investigation ? a move Mr. Trump believes was the moment his administration effectively lost control over the inquiry. Accusing Mr. Sessions of ?disloyalty,? Mr. Trump unleashed a string of insults on his attorney general.

Ashen and emotional, Mr. Sessions told the president he would quit and sent a resignation letter to the White House, according to four people who were told details of the meeting. Mr. Sessions would later tell associates that the demeaning way the president addressed him was the most humiliating experience in decades of public life.

The Oval Office meeting, details of which have not previously been reported, shows the intensity of Mr. Trump?s emotions as the Russia investigation gained steam and how he appeared to immediately see Mr. Mueller?s appointment as a looming problem for his administration. It also illustrates the depth of antipathy Mr. Trump has had for Mr. Sessions ? one of his earliest campaign supporters ? and how the president interprets ?disloyalty? within his circle of advisers.

I think if he's referring to their whole life, it makes sense.

We've been through this before, but even I don't think you should have the right to punch Christopher Cantwell at any random point in time because of his views

You should have the right to punch him when he's part of a neo-Nazi rally publicly espousing those views

What percentage of Hitler's speech was this?

If even 1% of your speech is dedicated to this it is too much. Just because sometimes they talk about other things doesn't mean the public isn't going to be justifiably outraged when you show up to talk about things.

"Hey you big babies he isn't talking about how black people are subhuman and the Jews need to be dealt with now. Why are you mad, that was yesterday?"

friendly reference to what that experience was like. As reported by the New York Daily News, a passage in What Happened features Clinton commenting on the crowds at Trump rallies calling for her to be imprisoned, saying, “they shouted, ‘Guilty! Guilty!’ like the religious zealots in Game Of Thrones chanting, ‘Shame! Shame!’ while Cersei Lannister walked back to the Red Keep.”

Comparing your plight to Cersei's plight as a ploy for sympathy isn't the best idea.

Am I the only one who doesn't see anything wrong with what Hillary said regarding 1984?

All she said was that Authoritarians get us to distrust our leaders, our press, and experts. Nowhere did I see her say that 'we need to unquestionably trust leaders and the press' At most she said those are the people we rely on, and that's true. But she doesn't say we should unquestionably follow them. Unless it's in a paragraph not posted.

She said that was the goal of authoritarians, which is utter nonsense. The goal of authoritarians is to, well, be authoritarian. That's most easily accomplished by getting the masses to trust them, though not necessarily mandatory either.

That's different from saying what authoritarians actually do.

That's the goal once they are in power, when trying to gain power it's best to cause mistrust among the current power class and getting people to trust you instead.

Of course that doesn't make Clinton's examples any better...
