Not sure why, but I decided to see how many of those deck recipes they always show you when you choose to make a new deck I actually had the cards to put together.

The skill based complaints are whatever, but I don't understand how they've had these disconnect problems in multiple tournaments now and still haven't done anything to rectify the problem.

Also, please no Quest Rogue. Those wounds are still too fresh for me. I'd rather face the Jade Parade.

Pretty sure no class makes me want to auto-concede more than mage. Regardless of it being quest mage or ele mage, I just know I won't have fun.

I've actually been Pirating up the Ladder, and I have far fewer regrets than I expected. This deck has more lines to it than Aggro Druid or Big Priest at least.

It makes their turn 2 incredibly weak (which you don't want to be as the aggressor in any circumstance), and on coin they can no longer coin it out then Raider or Upgrade Dread Corsair or something silly.

No more War Axe on 2 takes away a ton of their early game pressure. It hurts Tempo Warrior or Pirate Warrior big tjme, as it's their best way of controlling the board early on

Out of curiosity, how much wild do you play? I rarely see tempo shaman, and ship's cannon is extremely obnoxious. It's not quite like having a turn 2 flamewaker, but it's close.

That said, I agree with your core argument.

For standard, if you really want to ruin a mage's day (and priests too, for that matter), I'd try one of the aggro bearshark hunter decks that have been running around. The deck was never that far off from being top tier; it dodged the nerfs that hit every other aggro deck; your hero power is un-freezable damage; Track'd Kill Commands is another 10 unstoppable damage; death rattle minions making Blizzard not very effective; and has that good early rush that'll make mages cry.

It was never a bad card, it was just competing with the hunter's best mana cost (3 - bow, companion, kc, etc).

I mean, everything's situational -- right? In a world where Priest and Mage aren't good, a minion having 4 attack and Hexproof is infinitely less relevant. In a world where Hunter is trying to compete against aggro decks that have tools like pre-nerf FWA and pre-nerf Warleader, Bearshark wasn't getting the job done. And of course, pre-nerf Jade Druid didn't really care about your piddling 4/3's anyways.

But it's a new world, which means new evaluations.

I just had an arena match that kind of reminded me why I like HS so much: There were so many turns that I felt like I or my opponent just played really well.

I'm playing a late game/attrition priest build in this one, but I somehow managed to have a better board presence than my opponent early. So I was playing pretty aggro and brought him down to single digit health early. He played execute to finish my taunt that was protecting two 3/1s that were doing the majority of the damage and he clears the board.

Advance a bit, he's coming back and has a board almost full due to a Necrotic Geist. I'm able to kill the Geist and then play Shadow Word: Horror to clear the board except for one minion on his side. Pretty much even at this point.

We go back and forth, being fairly even. Finally, he plays Primordial Drake that has been buffed to 6/10 due to some hand buffs. I play Mind Control for the finishing blow.

There was just so much back and forth with multiple instances where I went "that was a really pivotal turn!" Hearthstone can just make for exciting games.

War axe nerf will make my pirates much weaker, so I made rank 10 with it today.

I feel filthy, but at least now I can play Shaman and Renounce Darkness at high ranks!

Played a little tonight went 6-1 to get to rank 5.

1 Jade Druid
2 Demon Warlocks
1 Tempo Mage
1 Midrange Hunter
1 Quest Warrior (man this guy is brave)
1 Big Priest

I was playing highlander priest (Velen version). The only deck I lost to was the mage.

I'm glad battlecries don't have to actually work to count towards the quests. Makes finishing the battlecry quest and the play Mage cards quest at the same time so much easier since I can add all of the secret, mech and elemental battlecry cards without adding any secrets, mechs or elementals.

Mage gets 4 Ice Block in one game, because Hearthstone is skill based.

And we shouldn't rotate the card now or anything. That would make too much sense.

Got up to rank 10 in wild playing pirates and had a 70% win rate. If I keep going that win rate will drop for sure but I'm happy with rank 10. Takes too long to find games past that in wild anyway.
