Yuuko is a “dimensional witch” and the employer of the main character in xxxHolic. She runs a magic shop that grants your wish for a price. Is that the most clichéd thing ever? I guess the most clichéd thing ever is a character saying “I’ll never do this” and then hard cutting to him doing it, but anyway. Also she’s dead or something but came back to life and is sort of not dead? The details are really hazy.

Looks-wise, she’s tall and pretty. Normally I don’t really like weird surreal art, but for her it works because she’s weird and eldritch.

Personality-wise, I might have overrated her slightly. I didn’t realize that her sense of humor is completely childish to the point of pushing someone down a slide. That said, she’s apparently kind and open to her friends, and I assume that as a waifu that will extend to me, so as far as waifu purposes go, that should be okay.

PWC-wise, I’m not sure. I’ve preemptively given her a high rating, but the problem is that she’s physically incapable of doing anything for you without receiving something in exchange. That means that for wife purposes, it’s either going to be a nightmare to be with her or it’s going to be super easy depending on your definitions, since a relationship/ring/love can all count maybe? and I’m not sure which one will be true.

Overall, there are a lot of unanswered questions about Yuuko, so I’d probably have to suggest steering clear of her.

That’s not really the hottest picture of Tatsuko, but it is the funniest. Tatsuko is a criminal who likes to sleep a lot and earn easy money. She’s also basically invincible.

Looks-wise, she’s pretty damn good. She goes beyond generic anime cuteness into something else, though I don’t know what precisely. Long, unkempt hair and an easygoing outfit implies she doesn’t put a lot of effort into her appearance, which is good.

Personality-wise, well, she’s kind of a criminal, but she’s also gentle and loyal. More importantly, she’s a super heavy sleeper and spends 90% of her time doing just that. Apparently if she gets angry, she gains super strength? I’m just going to call this one a wash.

PWC-wise, well, I might’ve slightly majorly overestimated her. I’m not sure. I tend to put criminals low, but in this case she seems to have some kind of code of honor of not fighting people too weak, and really, she seems easy to get along with. She’s gonna spend most of her time sleeping? What’s that to me? You know how many places in my apartment there are where you can sleep? The answer is three. Four if you count the bathtub. And also, I have a couch I can’t remove from my apartment because it’s huge and someone built it inside of the apartment itself, so it’s just been left there for years. Tatsuko’s strength sounds really useful in finally getting rid of the thing.

Overall, Tatsuko looks like a solid waifu if you can get over the criminal aspects.

Before I go on, I just want to say that the average Guilty Gear character on TVTropes has like two-to-four paragraphs of text in their description. Dizzy has seven, and some are individually thicker than entire other characters’ descriptions. Anyway, Dizzy is a half-human, half-Gear with a tail, an angel wing and a Grim Reaper wing, and blue hair, which is one katana short of ticking all of the Mary Sue boxes.

Looks-wise, Dizzy is kind of an eyeful. She could probably be even better-looking if she would just dress normally, but I understand that Japan prefers complexity to brevity, so so be it.

Personality-wise, Dizzy is super innocent, pacifistic, and gentle due to having such an accelerated childhood (she’s supposed to be like three years old). Okay, I’ll buy it. She also has a more dour side about seeing human death as part of a natural cycle, well, okay, we’ve all seen that Family Guy episode.

PWC-wise, I don’t know, maybe I overrated her. It seems easy to get along with her and I don’t have to worry about her getting into trouble, but if by chance crazy Japanese people covered in belts start to attack her, I just know it’s going to wreck my apartment.

Overall, Dizzy seems like she’s going to be kind of a hassle to deal with. That’s not exactly her fault, though, so I have mixed feelings about it.

Before I go on, if 80 seems awfully high, know that there was a better pic that I don’t want to use here because of GameFAQs. Anyway, Excellen is a giant robot pilot who has blond hair and a name that’s not a name, which means she’s American.

Looks-wise, well, we’ve already established that I like blond hair, bangs, and really thick ponytails (maybe I didn’t establish that last one, but I do), so she ticks off all of the correct hair boxes. I like everything about her design, it all screams ‘energy.’

Personality-wise, she’s silly and boisterous, but her main trait is flirting with everyone. She’s still loyal to her boyfriend, but apparently she is prepared to flirt with anything with a pulse and dress up sexily for everyone to see. Apparently her ‘main’ clothing isn’t sexy enough, I guess. To tie this into her PWC, I’ll be honest, I don’t think I’d be 100% cool with that if she was my waifu, but at the same time, at least she never goes too far with it, and I’d probably enjoy the attention when she gives it, soooooo eh. I’ll still give her a positive score.

Overall, Excellen seems like a very high tier partying waifu.

Hibiki is yet another Japanese teenage girl who wants to be an idol. Honestly, all the jokes I could make about it are played out. Her thing is that she has a ton of pets.

Looks-wise, I really like the long ponytail, it gives her a slightly tomboyish presence that works very well. Beyond that, she’s in generic anime cuteness territory, though she’s a good example of it.

Personality-wise, she’s energetic and friendly, but has trouble controlling her accent so people can understand her. And jeez, if other Japanese people have trouble understanding her, I can only assume it’s going to be a nightmare for someone outside of Japan. Her main thing, though, is that she has a million pets and gives them all cutesy nicknames.

PWC-wise, she’s solid. What, you thought I’d have a problem with a million pets? Spoilers: my parents own the apartment building, so I could get around the one pet limit rule they imposed on all of the tenants. These are the perks of being the bourgeoisie, my friends.

Overall, Hibiki seems like a waifu that you’d need patience with animals for, but is otherwise a good choice.

And another nominator bites the dust, and not even with the highest ranking version of Zelda. Well, this ranking only takes into account TP/SSB Zelda, and all other versions are ignored.

In terms of looks, this is probably Zelda’s hottest incarnation. OoT Zelda might have the potential to be hotter, but N64 limitations prevent it (unless you really like sharp angles), most of the other Zeldas are children or really tiny sprites, and LttP Zelda looks like an ordinary village girl, so her only competition is SS Zelda and BotW Zelda, both of which have the handicap of being cell-shaded, which is inherently less hot than realism. She also really nails the ‘elegant princess’ look in a way the other Zeldas do not, though I’m curious as to how easy it is to fight using a rapier when you’re wearing a dress so long that your shoes are invisible.

This Zelda doesn’t show up very often, so it’s kind of hard to get a lock on her personality. That said, she surrenders to Zant to prevent people from being slaughtered and she’s willing to give up her soul to help Link on his quest, so we know for sure that she’s selfless and helpful. She’s got a sword in this version, which implies that she has some kind of ability to affect things meaningfully around her, but in the end she just gets used by Ganon again, so ehhh.

PWC-wise, well, she’s a princess willing to do anything to protect her people, which I assume will include me. This is also one of the ‘not into Link’ versions of her, which is good for me because honestly I can’t possibly compete with Link. Maybe Legolas could. Yeah, anyway, I’m thinking this Zelda will be very easy to get along with.

Overall, TP Zelda isn’t one of the better Zelda games, but it is one of the better Zelda princesses.

Lightning is the protagonist of the game I was most disappointed in in my life. Not Starcraft II, not Diablo III, not any of that. FFXIII. I was so ready to love that game. I was so convinced that I would love it that I got to the second to final boss before realizing that I hated every hour of the thirty-something hours I’d put into the game. Honestly, I could make this write-up be nothing except meme images with Lightning’s creator, a creepy guy who fell in love with his own creation to the point of bringing roses to a professional board room meeting and explaining why Lightning is like the roses.

I’m going to try to do this write-up without letting my hatred for FFXIII get in the way. I’m going to fail, but I’m going to try.

Looks-wise, I will admit that female Cloud does look smoking. I can see why Don Corneo passed up Tifa and Aeris for her. The partly open jacket thing is great even if she has a belt around her abdomen, the hair style is fantastic, and she manages to make work a busy, overcomplicated design in a way that a lot of would-be anime waifus fail to. If there’s a problem here, it’s that Square tried to market Lightning in the real world as a model for stuff.

Now come on. Come on. There is blatantly no overlap between people who play FF games and people who buy Louis Vuitton clothing, which means someone at multiple companies just though Lightning looked hot. She does, but she’s clearly not a real model. It’s just so confusing that this even happened.

Personality-wise, Lightning is a wet sack of nothing. Oh, for sure I can tell that she’s supposed to be determined, independent, and devoted to her friends and sister, but she comes off as a wet sack of nothing to me. It says something that ‘boring-ass’ characters is not even in FFXIII’s three biggest flaws.

PWC-wise, though, she’s like a goddess or something? I never played the sequels. I know for sure that she has zero problem with cosplay or complicated costumes. I know that her only real personality trait is devotion to her sister, and I assume that as a waifu she’d give that to me as well. Lightning actually almost nails this section.

Overall… I feel like Lightning I would have nothing in common, since she’s a Jesus-figure goddess who lives in France as a fashion model and I’m some dude, but if we could get past that then I imagine she’d make an excellent waifu.

Personality-wise, Amane has a slight complex about being unable to save one of her friends when she was younger, and deals with it by helping other people, in particular the person’s younger brother. Sounds reasonable. She’s apparently terrible at telling jokes, but that’s minor. One things I wasn’t able to find anything about was the origin of the quote “there’s a fire in my belly and a vacuum in my mouth,” which I have to assume has a different connotation in Japanese.

PWC-wise, Amane seems like she’s easy to get along with so long as you can handle some needless apologizing, and eh, I can.

Overall, Amane seems like a solid ‘normal’ waifu.

Mabel is the daughter of a modern major general (who has interests animal, vegetable, and mineral) and the love interest of the main character. My favorite part of researching her was learning that Gilbert and Sullivan’s plays got ripped off in America a lot due to weirdly worded copyright laws, so they had the first run of this play be in America to avoid them and thus be copyrighted correctly to make more money.

For her Looks ranking, I decided to just use the hottest version of Mabel I could find online, since it’s a play and there’ve been literally hundreds (thousands?) of Mabels. She’s held back a little by the fact that I hate Victorian-era fashion and aesthetics (mostly because I hate steampunk), but I can’t reasonably hold it against her since she was written by people actually from the Victorian era. Speaking of which, is Mabel the only waifu on this list? Anyway, in the end this random actress is still pretty good-looking.

For her Personality, Mabel is devoted, kind, and a decent singer (depending on the actress). Works for me!

Most of Mabel’s high PWC comes from a single event: her lover realizes that he’s technically indebted to pirates for sixty years and needs to leave, and she’s willing to just wait for him. Now that’s dedication.

Overall, Mabel is a little more boring than most of the waifus on this list, but she’s also one of the most capable of being a normal person, so again, everything here works out well.

Sara is a super talented warrior who’s become a teacher for other would-be warriors, because everyone knows that when you’re in the prime of your life at 27, you should use it to teach instead of fight. People who fight, reach like 40 and retire, and then start teaching are just fools.

Looks-wise, Sara is gorgeous. Like many anime-ish characters, she falls curse to having too many belts, but other than that she’s really good-looking and she does’t dress too skimpily. Spoilers: I went back and edited that sentence to remove a crueler word.

Personality-wise, Sara is slightly lazy, childish, and manipulative, so okay. What I’m more impressed by is the fact that she’s so good at her job as a teacher and a fighter that the school can’t afford to fire her, so she drinks on the job knowing they can’t punish her. Now that’s funny. I docked a few points for the same reason as that Persona girl, which is that apparently she can have a romance with one of her own students. Seriously, though, this is just like that South Park episode where if it’s a male teacher it’s horrible and if it’s a female teacher it’s hot. Also, apparently she’s mocked for not having a boyfriend. Bull****. This is some Hollywood “Angelia Jolie is an ugly shut-in computer whiz” level of nonsense here.

PWC-wise, she’s got a job, she’s super talented, and she’s smart. I like it.

Overall, Sara seems like a very fine waifu choice.

Nishimya is the female protagonist of A Silent Voice, and shes deaf. Or sort of deaf, because she has a hearing aid. Honestly, I couldnt quite nail down her hearing status. She gets picked on a lot for being deaf, which is confusing to me. I cant recall a single instance of ever seeing anyone get picked on for something like that.

Looks-wise, shes pretty good. Really, Im more concerned about the deafness. I wasnt sure where to place it. Its clearly not a normal part of looks, but it is a physical attribute that doesnt fit in under the other categories.

Personality-wise, Nishimya is overly apologetic, a little depressed, and extremely forgiving of others even after they bullied her.

PWC-wise, again, I see nothing problematic. In fact, I just so happen to live near one of the best California colleges for deaf people. About a third of my classes involved someone sitting up in front and doing sign language for a student. I wonder how you do sign language for complex math stuff? Ill never know.

Overall I think I moderately overranked Nishimya? Im not sure why I gave her such high looks and personality. Theres nothing wrong with her, mind you, and shed still be a good waifu.

More Spoilers: The multiple universes thing I'm over-simplifying. She's from like Earth-2 or something. She's a robotics engineer, or at least an engineer with a heavy interest in robotics, but the tech level is higher than it seems to be here, since IIRC it was partially the fault of a device she built that she got sent into another universe to begin with. Essentially she recognizes that the player is "also" from Earth like her, but they're obviously not the same one.
