I thought it was pretty great and really hilarious. It's exactly how I imagine NEETs live their lives aside from the crazy situations like the pyramid scheme and meeting a cute girl

Are you srs? I don't think that that's the emotion you were supposed to take away from it...like sure there were sad moments, but I'd hardly call the anime depressing

Eh he isn't wrong. That guy's life was depressing and even in the end it still didn't get much better. Basically everyone around him improved their situation except for him

I have been in one way or another over the last 5 years like Sato, so shit resonated hard for me. It was way more hard hitting for me than it was probably meant to be for most. Also, the ending has put me in the best mood I've been in for weeks.

Actually, the anime's ending was supposed to be hopeful. The manga ending is actually kinda depressing. He actually doesn't get that much further away from his hikkikomori self, and his friends are all pretty much remain stagnant

It absolutely is depressing. The slightly hopeful ending about "everyone trying to make their way in life" doesn't make up for that. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

He may have had a shitty life, but the anime didn't particularly depress me --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

I found the ending to be rather sad, but I do appreciate they went that way instead of a happily ever after ending. Yamazaki failed to do what he wanted and is now stuck with his planned out life (you could say he is happy, but its hard to say if its just a facade since he gets very little screen time after he leaves). Sato is no longer a shut-in at least, but he is now working a job he hates. Sato and Misaki also create was is essentially a suicide pact (which obviously isn't a very healthy thing to do).
