Lentils, salad, rice, tofu, stir fry, a few Indian dishes (aloo gobi and chana masala), smoothies, fruit. Had a chick'n burger for lunch today too.

Don't get me wrong, meat is really tasty, I just feel more conflicted eating it than just foregoing it.

Nope. I've sourced ethical cosmetics and cleaning products for many years and even make my own soap. No animal ingredients or testing for anything. And yeah it can be a pain to check labels for everything but it's habit.

I'm encountering more issues with hidden animal products in food. Weird stuff like shellac or whey or beeswax. So when in doubt whole produce is good.

The question is if you consider human animal products.

I mean, if I can ask it for consent I don't care so much. Though I have yet to consume any human products so far. :p

That would be a good way to do it. But locally there's not really many options. I don't want to eat red meat and there's no local fish or poultry. For health's sake I am abstaining.

I'll probably end up having to eat something when I visit family or just bring my own meat substitute/food. They do not understand or support plant based eating. So it goes.

Nada. Maybe later.

Hard to say. Lots of bread products with eggs, milk, or butter. In wraps maybe eggs but they might actually be vegan.

Yeah, that's one thing that is often vegan. I have seen other things in it on occasion.

That's something I have been doing a lot... reading all the labels on all the things

Kettle corn is a nice snack I can find that's vegan. Oreos are as well.

But mostly lots of delicious fruits. It's easier to not think about a label.

Thanks. I do love animals, and I do want to do what I can environmentally, cutting it out is big. I know this is not for everyone but I'm deciding to act on convictions and try for myself. So far I am pleasantly surprised at the tasty variety of food and low cost of ingredients. All that fiber is a nice bonus.

I have been eating a lot of lentils which have as much protein as beans (or more). Whole grains have protein. Mushrooms, nuts, seeds... And I have some pea protein powder for smoothies. Easy to get 80g+ in a day with one of those which is much more than needed.

When I can find some tempeh I want to try cooking with it

oh. In wraps the non-vegan item may be eggs, but most don't have them. So it could be a vegan wrap. They usually are.

It's... ok. Whole wheat pasta has similar protein amounts.

I still have issues with quinoa after a norovirus bout when i ate quinoa. it's a particularly unpleasant food to vomit. :(

Gosh I wish I had more of those chick'n burgers. They were surprisingly tasty. great on a toasted kaiser roll with vegan mayo, barbecue sauce, onions, and lettuce. Mmmmm.

I also like cheddar cheese buns but those are obviously out

yeah they more or less just thicken the gravy for the dish and add an extra richness to it. To keep it vegan I'd use coconut milk and omit yogurt. it goes well with the cashew.

I usually get a bunch of different dishes when I can. Chana masala, aloo gobi, korma, malai kofta (anoter good dish with cashews), biryani if I'm feeling fancy... vindaloo is OK too. Blanked on the fish dish that I like sometimes.

Indian food is easy to adapt to be vegetarian or vegan thankfully
