Like, being able to plan stuff together that we both really like is awesome (for example, we both love going to the movies and we both love the same kinds of movies). We're planning on seeing Thor together in November and of course Star Wars in December.

I know a lot of people say "opposites attract", and that's cool too, but this way definitely works best for me.

Sounds like a healthy relationship.

In fact it would be unhealthy if you didn't agree on those types of things

Nah, Ok Cupid says that answering the same things on questions like, "Do you like horror movies" is a good predictor of happy long term relationships. What you want is someone that's enough like you that you can get along with them, but different enough to give you a hard time once in a while.

Because if you're too similar, one of you is redundant and that doesn't work either.

I had a girlfriend who went to a convention with me dressed as Doctor Who characters and it was amazing.

She ended up being kinda crazy though so it didn't last but it was great while it was. Hope you're not as unlucky.

Of course it's good to have similar things, that way you can actually do stuff together.

That's what I always thought lol but it feels like all the relationships I've seen around me have been not that way.

Like, my one friend was absolutely miserable when he was with his girlfriend... and I don't even know why they got together in the first place. I think he just liked the attention she initially gave him. But I've never seen two people so incompatible for each other lol. And for whatever reason they stayed together for three years until she cheated on him lol. I think part of the reason he stayed with her was because he didn't want to not be in a relationship. Another thing was she has aspergers and I think he didn't want to be seen as a pariah for dumping her (and I'm betting he didn't know that when they first started talking >_>)

And my other friend and his gf get along just fine, and their relationship definitely works... but it's not the kind I would want. The girl is nice enough but she just seems passionless. Like if my friend and I and our group want to see a movie (something geeky like a comic movie or Star Wars... or really any movie in general) she'll either not go or won't enjoy it.
