I saw my neighbor selling lemonade with his daughter and i thought "man, i wanna sell lemonade with my daughter!"

But lets be honest, im never gonna find a woman that wants to have children with me. And besides, why bring someone new into the world when there's kids having an absolutely terrible time at an orphanage?

actually the correct grammatical term would be "when there ARE" or "there're," not "there's."

it's a thing called plural/singular and you learned about it in elementary school. it's time to start applying what you learned

no you still don't get it, apparently. kids = plural, regardless. i get what you're TRYING to say, but even in that context it's still plural

here's a trick since you probably still don't follow

Write/say it out loud and if it sounds dumb as shit, it's probably wrong:

why bring someone new into the world when there is kids having an absolutely terrible time at an orphanage?

vs.

why bring someone new into the world when there are kids having an absolutely terrible time at an orphanage?

simple

Nothing is the same as to having your own flesh and blood is a good enough reason for me. Sure you would bring up said kid like they were your own but you know deep down they never will be. For me personally I'd either have my own kids or bust. I'm not against bringing up members of my family though if I had to.

Bah, don't listen to them. I would LOVE to have a son or daughter and raise them. I care not one bit if they are my "flesh and blood". I personally would prefer to raise a child who would not have a loving family otherwise, and I would rather not bring another life into this world.

I'm too old though and will not try and raise a child who won't turn 18 before I'm over 60 (I'm not even likely to make it another 10 years with my family history, I've already outlived everyone in my immediate family).

If your young enough, go for it. Just make sure you are finacially secure enough to provide the child a good life, and responsible enough to take the job seriously. Put the child first, and you'll be a good dad.

From personal experience when you are taking care of a young child, you will run into a TON of single mothers who may be very interested in you (even if your old like me). Single dads I guess are attractive or something (no clue). So you might meet someone to raise your kids with eventually anyway. That certainly shouldn't be why you adopt, but it's an added long term bonus.

Anyway there are tons of kids out there that need loving parents. You probably would have a much easier time adopting an older child though, and would help them more (there are usually plenty of people waiting to adopt babies or very young children).

I've been entertaining the idea myself. Even though my family irritates the hell out of me sometimes, I enjoy the moments where we're all sitting at the table eating, or playing video games.

If you're really interested and you don't have any history of harming kids maybe start by doing volunteer work or like a big brother type program.

The vetting process for adopting a kid is so extensive I am pretty sure that even if I wanted to adopt one as a single parent they wouldn't let me. My boss had to go to like 10 weeks of schooling, go through background checks, get a psychiatric evaluation, and they had to tour his house before he was given permission to even ask for a kid.

I get that they want to make sure the people adopting are good people that can support a kid but the process in the U.S. seems overly rigid when you consider that the orphanage is probably a worse place than with most people who'd want to adopt.

You're talking about people who could much more easily get a child through normal conception, artificial insemination (if they can't conceive normally), or hiring a surrogate mother to give birth, than adopt. If you make it too hard to adopt people will just choose an easier way to get a kid.

You're practically dooming most of the kids to stay in the orphanage.

You can try but you'll be on the bottom of the list. Try fostering first, get a feel for it.

Honestly I'd rather they go through lengthy processes to make sure the kids are in good homes and care. The foster care system is pretty flawed, and I've seen quite a few kids come out of there with bigger issues because that system isn't as strict.

Just cause someone doesn't care about one thing, doesn't mean they don't care about being accused of something. They were responsing to the accusation more then to the message.
