Was downloading some shit when I was too careless and got wrecked with the svcvmx virus. Was correctly trying to fix it with a tutorial until the antivirus popped up saying "You have the Ndistpr64.sys virus! Reboot now to fix it!" So I accidentally rebooted and now both viruses wrecked my laptop.

I've been trying to fix it, looking at lots of guides. Using Rkill, Zemana Antivirus, booting in safe mode to delete the Ndistpr64.sys file, etc. Couldn't delete the file, I keep getting permission denied.

Right now I'm using Reimage, decided to pay for it to fix it (will refund it if it doesn't work).

But I'm not really sure where else to go from here. What else should I do?

I'd rather wipe my HDD than pay for some scam program

Also serious advice:

Youre a rookie. Create an account on www.bleepingcomputer.com and create a thread requesting help.

Ive been IT for over a decade but I dont feel like digging up old posts to paste.

That is a legit top tier antimalware site with very nice people who are willing to help. You can also educate yourself AND they have download mirrors for all the best antimalware software and other utilities.

Trust me dude either go there or reinstall windows.

BleepingComputer was the guide I was using, but I accidentally restarted my laptop because the antimalware that BleepingComputer recommended told me to restart.

I'm in IT too, but I enjoy programming more than technical support.

Assuming its Windows 8 or newer, just back up your files, then run the "Reset PC" to reinstall windows

I pressed Keep Files and Reset PC about an hour and a half ago, and I'm still waiting for it to load. Most of my things are on my external hard drive, but afaik I'll only lose my programs and my settings which I can just reinstall.

Left it on Reset all night until now, and it wasn't changing. It just had the loading circle on screen with no numbers or anything, so I turned it off.

Now I can't get back into my laptop and Reset PC says there's a problem and no changes were made. That or it freezes on the troubleshooting screen.

I think I wiped Windows 10 from my paptop. Is this fixable? Sigh, I'm going to Staples tomorrow. I still have warranty.

Use a different computer to make an antivirus boot disk to remove it. If the virus encrypted stuff and there is no known fix you're better off reformatting. Generally that's the quicker solution anyway.

Does anyone know if this will work?

Comnect the laptop's hard drive to a different computer in order to back up my files onto my external hard drive. My college offers free downloads for Windows 10 for stydents, so I download that on my other computer (hopefully it's an iso), and save the image on my external hard drive. Troubleshoot my laptop again, but since I have no OS on my laptop currently, load the iso from my external and install a fresh Windows 10 like that.

It's probably my only option at this point, or at least that I can think of.

How would I make a boot disk? And would it even work if I can't even log into my laptop?

I've never heard of Reimage before yesterday. What's wrong with it? And it was recommended in a guide I was using.

You can probably just Google how to make an antivirus boot disk. You'll need to look up instructions because I think Windows now applies some encryption on its partition, which if that's the case there will be some tool you can use with the AV to fix the drive anyway. I haven't had to fix a Windows 10 machine yet.

Uh also don't plug in the infected drive to other computers.
