but ive been watching on youtube people who stack silver and I dont know if this is a smart idea.

Finding silver coins seems decent, each coin I find basically id be paying face value for, but actually going and buying silver bars seems weird.

anybody have any thoughts? I actually think itd be cool to own a 10oz silver bar because it looks cool and it would be money that I couldnt just spend, because id have to go through the process of selling the bar.

But yeah like i said i dont know much about it. I have about 50-60 dollars worth of silver in coins here, but the face value of the coins is $4.70. I can see hoarding silver coins I get for face value like I said and holding onto them.

I dont know the timeframe these people are looking at. I guess over time, decades the price of silver will go up(because the price always seems to ebb and flow but generally trend upward?). but I think some of these people are waiting until the price spikes somehow and will offload immediately. I dont know.

All of the gold/silver investors moved onto crypto currency (Bitcoin). Oddly enough the same people are weary of newer alt-coins like Eth.

I could plunk down 160 on a silver bar without any repercussions. Though that also means say I NEED the money, silver price might not be as high and im getting screwed.

For right now I am going to hoard every silver coin I have and find in the future, because I get these at face value, either in my cash drawer at work or in friends change and they let me have em.

so I have:

five mercury dimes(worth about a dollar in silver)
one roosevelt dime(same)
two war nickels(35% silver, worth about 95 cents)
four silver dollars(1921-23, worth about 12 dollars or so) (but these might be worth over spot to a collector as well)

I paid for these...four dollar and ten cents. The rest were free because people let me have them. I havent spent a single extra cent though for them.

Silver, like any investment, is all about buying and selling at the right time. If you had bought when it was at its lowest in the past 30 years, in the early 2000's, and sold at its highest somewhere around 2010 IIRC, you could have made a lot of money.

During that 10 year span, the price went up by like 10x. It is however considered more volatile than the gold market.

Thats what I am looking for right now, silver quarters because i dont own one.

Ive seen tons of 1965 quarters(clad, no silver) but zero 1964. I get theyre all being hoarded up but we're only talking 53 years, when it comes to pennies and nickels i see coins older than 53 years old in change all the time.

Still huntin'.

I get them by luck.

And they are in good shape being as old as they are.

No wear in the text, images and the rim edge is still there.

I also don't know that I have them until I try and use them in a vending machine or I drop one.
