His movies are economically successful. This is kind of an understatement. His movies are phenomenally economically successful, in an environment where movie studios have backed themselves into a corner where they need at least one movie a year to break $1 billion to consider themselves stable (in much the same way that the AAA-game industry has become similarly all-or-nothing).
