Roommates and save. Living with your parents for a decade into adulthood should have given ample opportunity to save.

or move. Which, yes, you can do with living family members.

Well are you going to pay for $1200 rent or are you going to move to the middle of nowhere where rent is cheap? Make up your mind

And it sucks when you can't find work. I'm looking for a second job, no luck so far.

I don't want to work until I'm 70 even though that looks like what is going to happen...

is the 89 in reference to your year of birth? Because 27-28 year olds can indeed move out of home without dead parents or saying they'd be happy if their family died :S

Pretty sure his parents need to be dead so he can inherit their fortune, train in martial arts across the world, and then stand guard over the city where they once lived.

the min wage going up to 15 dollars actually makes this event more likely even with a college degree

And when exactly do you expect that to happen? Because the "Fight for $15" was lost ages ago. Bernie/Chafee/O'Malley couldn't do it even if they hadn't lost to Hillary, Hillary wouldn't go that high (as revealed during primaries) even if she won, and Trump was against a raise in general.

unless you've been banking into retirement savings, look even higher than 70. Semi-retirement.

Have you considered volunteering to fill time and make connections? It could lead to employment, and gives you purpose and fulfillment in the mean time. Plus doing things that help society yaaaaay

Libraries, retirement homes, food banks, animal shelters, hospitals--5 places that often need people to help out with a variety of tasks.

uh it did happen
I was the sole heir of 7.25 an hour in 2012 now in a few years someone will be making twice that
I could have lived with 12 dollars an hour
15 dollars an hour just devalues currency and makes hamburgers cost 10 bucks (12 bucks if you live in the city)

min wage is basically the gold standard
raising the min wage just made the people who've saved all these years poorer
as well as all the people who are starting in trades poorer
so basically you spend 20k on school to make 4500 dollars more a year
you wouldn't even profit off of your trade for another 5 years while simultaneously living like you dropped out of high school

volunteer work is slave work
those people aren't going to starve to death without your help are they?
basically conscripted slave work for your resume

I've gone down that road before and found the company just picks up people and drops then once the contract runs out because why pay someone for a job when you can get the labour for free? Due to that I've become sceptical about going down that road again. Plus at my age I really should be in paid employment and moving out so voluntary work isn't going to cut it.

Depends where you are. I used to volunteer to spend time with seniors, and have volunteered to walk dogs and hang out with cats at animal shelters. Have also done volunteer events of different kinds--working in a casino, event planning, going to schools, etc. Met some nice people. Was stuff to do. I still volunteer my time for events but as a photographer in some cases.

I agree that much of it should be paid. But unfortunately many volunteer opportunities are for charities and/or non-profits which are doing their best to minimize funds used on staff and maximize the amount they can stretch donor money or limited revenue. They are also often vital to communities. Imagine if they DID pay for jobs like those--what a better place it would be. It would be a great way to spend government funds to help unemployment and engage more people in their communities.

Unfortunately if it's not generating revenue it's not generating jobs as even jobs that do generate revenue are shrinking up.

Agreed with what you've said here. I'm not knocking folk who volunteer. My dad volunteers at this recycling plant while working with folk who have many disabilities. He's almost like a carer too. He's still with the company now but the boss has decided to throw a bit of cash his way. He enjoys the job so more power to him. He's 62 also so really doesn't care if the employment is paid or not.

The problem is gender roles. most of the time specially in conservative families their parents always keep telling them to stop playing harsh sports, stop playing video-games or stop doing things that are not ladylike, and also peer pressure for them to fit society's standards

countless of my cousins and nieces grew up from girls who enjoyed soccer, videogames, geek movies etc into the typical boring woman whit no hobies who spends all the time on Facebook.

My wife agrees whit this. While men continue growing whuile enjoying their hobbies, many women are told stuff like 'why do you do that that's a man's hobbie'

lol you must be fat/scrawny. No; this is definitely not true, at least not in the west. The hard truth is that women here are boring because they don't need to be interesting. They have everything handed to them because it's easier to have weak men buy them stuff and because they never have to worry about being interesting to secure a relationship

Among themselves, they discuss things that interest them as a gender and we do the same so we'd be equally dull to them. If you can't find any at all that have shared interests or that you find stimulating, you may be either arrogant or particularly dull yourself.
