with some of the stuff you have? I've been doing that lately because I'm moving soon and thought it would be a good idea to try to use up some of the food I have. I had a bunch of cans of stuff like beans and corn that had been sitting there for months. A few weeks ago I made some chili, and yesterday I made some corn salsa. They both turned out pretty good, which I'm pleased with since I'm still pretty clueless when it comes to cooking.

Now I still have some green beans and mixed vegetables, which are going to be harder to figure out a use for. I could just warm them up directly as simple sides, but that's boring and the cans are way more food than one person can eat.

Anyways, if you look through your pantry/fridge/freezer and think of a cool use for stuff that you've had sitting there untouched for months, you should come back to this topic and post your results.

I tend to mostly buy stuff I eat and, if it's like a canned food, usually it's like a meal in itself. The only things I've bought and really have no use for atm is seaweed/kelp since I got sick of it.

You can add beef ,potatoes and some herbs and other seasonings for a simple stew with green beans.

Mixed vegetables always go fine with some chicken and fried rice.

I use most of the food I buy and I clean my pantry at least once every two weeks, so I can't relate.

Even canned stuff that lasts forever?

Well, I imagine in your financial situation that you don't buy any more food than you need, right? Makes sense. I just hope "clean my pantry" doesn't mean "throw out perfectly good food".

Cause clearly I don't eat them often enough to buy fresh ones.

No, because I generally buy food I plan to eat, and I'm not super-ambitious when it comes to experimenting with meals, so I don't buy things that I plan to do something unusual with and then just procrastinate making it.

I also shop on a pretty regular basis, so I have a relatively efficient turn-over in food. I probably have enough food in my house at any time that I could survive a few weeks if there was ever a massive crisis and food stopped being available, but it's always getting turned over, so no single thing is ever in my house more than a month or two in and of itself.

Why did I but TWO packs of breakfast sausage a long time ago? I haven't even gone through one of them yet. I like sausage, but it's too much effort since I usually get up pretty late and just want to eat right away and not spend much time prepping breakfast. Well, that and cleanup is a bitch, which is probably the bigger deterrent in me making them (same thing with bacon, unfortunately).

I've never baked sausage, but if it's anything like baking bacon, it doesn't really make it any more convenient or produce less grease

If you put foil lining the sheet you can just let the sheet cool and peel it off, minimal cleaning. Without foil still cool, scrape, and wash. Don't have to watch it on the stove or deal with grease splatter. Can use the stove to cook other things more easily. Downside is no fond in the pan for eggs. YMMV, I found it was helpful

and buy frozen not canned!

I've put foil on but just dumped the grease before it solidified. I guess I thought a lot of it would still end up on the pan and that you couldn't really scrape it off easily

There's usually a small bit near any seam or gap, but hot water and soap and a wash cloth wipes it in a few seconds. The solidifying is key to cleanup
