That and Nausicaa are my favorite Ghibli movies. However, I still haven't seen like the 5 newest ones.

The only other Ghibli stuff I have is a couple of games (Jade Cocoon 2 and Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch). I never watched their movies before.

Well, guess I can try to watch it tonight. Hardest bit now is getting to use my PS3 since at least one nephew is here between 6am and 6pm. Yay for my sister's work hours.

Pom Poko, The Cat Returns, and Ponyo would be ones I'd easily say you wouldn't be missing anything by giving a pass.

Pom Poko, The Cat Returns

I've seen these and I agree. Skip em. Especially Pom Poko, what the crap was that. I also was not a fan of Whisper of the Heart, Only Yesterday and Ocean Waves. A couple of those I felt went nowhere and I wonder why they even exist, but obviously some people really like that kind of movie.

Ocean Waves sucks, I agree there, but Whisper of the Heart and Only Yesterday are literally the top two Ghibli movies.

Whisper of the Heart was ok I guess, but Only Yesterday hides behind the "coming of age" shield. For some reason, people feel like wielding that shield instantly makes something amazing and incredible. It was a slow, bland, boring movie, but no, it's coming of age so man is it SO DEEP. Not saying coming of age can't be great, but this was not. But again, this is just how I see it, if you like it anyway more power to you.

Porco Rosso is my second favorite Ghibli movie, behind Castle in the Sky. Just amazing.

Whisper of the Heart is also great, but it's not like most other ones, being neither historical nor fantasy.
