*Asian woman; couldn't fit.

On one hand:
-White women have been propped up at the top of the beauty totem pole, and have set the standard for femininity all over the world; not only that, but as they are White, they also sit at the top of the socioeconomic totem pole. For Black men, it could be seen as the ultimate victory in claiming an especially White woman as his lover/soul mate/etc.
-For the longest time, at least in America, it was taboo and even outright illegal for Black men to pursue White women, and even now, doing so could be a way to "get back at the White man".
-There is still some lingering hang-ups over seeing Black men with White women, especially in the media; Hollywood tends to mostly shy away from it, even though they have shown to be more than willing to pair Black women with White men.

On the other hand:
-Asians in general tend to not have much daily interaction with Black people in America, as they tend to occupy different socioeconomic classes; this is coupled with the fact that Asians are still a very small population in comparison to Blacks and Hispanics in the US. As such, Blacks and Whites tend to interact far more often.
-Asian women tend to marry up, and therefore generally pursue White men if they seek to date outside of their race. An interested Black guy--one who is fit, handsome, and career-mobile--may have to work even harder to get an Asian woman to give him a chance, whereas a White guy with the same traits could essentially just show up and have Asian women swooning over him.
-Due to the collectivist mentality that some Asian cultures have, it may be hard for them to separate a decent, hard-working Black man from the thugs, especially with older/more traditional parents. Even if she was interested, this could make a Black man a hard sale to her family back home.

The Black guy is seen as "dating/marrying down" when women in general tend to marry up. He also has to contend with the stereotypes of Black people that may have tainted people's minds of him even if he does not conform to them at all.

As mentioned in the OP, a Black man may also be a hard sale for the Asian woman's family, who may have less-than-flattering views on Black people and therefore may be unhappy that she is dating him.
