i said this in the NGG thread too, but...

i hope for an open-world pokemon game on the scale of breath of the wild

where wild pokemon freely roam the environment

and you can use your own pokemon to traverse that environment and discover hidden grottos, secret caves, insurmountable mountains, vast forests...

a real console pokemon adventure. finding rare and legendary pokemon, exploring big towns and battling all the trainers... how amazing would it be in an open-world rpg

it should have been done a long time ago

that's what pokemon red and blue were supposed to be in the first place, but they became what they are because that's the best the hardware could do

but now the hardware is so far beyond that and we're still using the same formula over and over

it's time to reach for the STARS nintendo!

I know this may sound crazy, but I'm hoping for a Gen 1 remake or a Third SM where you return to Kanto.

-We just came off the back of the Pokemon nostalgia of 2017 for the anniversary
-Appealing to Gen 1 fans could bring in casuals
-There's this guy on Twitter who has been putting out major hints to a Pokemon reveal, and his countdown that started as far back as last week just so happens to end tomorrow. That was WELL BEFORE this announcement. He also said he heard some exclusive leaks. We can all hope!

I thought they were boring as well. I was hyped as hell for them too, but the main story was boring and there was next to no post game. Such a shame.

It's the only thing it could be. GF isn't going to jump the 3DS ship yet (it took them over a year after the GBA launched to release RS, almost two years after the DS launched to release DP, and over 2 years after the 3DS launched to release XY even announcing BW2 a literal year after the 3DS launch) nor are they going to have a third generation for the same system ready this soon. And they wouldn't have a Direct for anything not a main entry.

Pokemon Stars is a rumor that has existed for several months about a "third version" of SM being made for Switch.

Should be noted that it's only 6 minutes long so it's either an extended game announcement or just a lot of little things. They may also use it to announce when legendaries are finally gonna be available on Pokemon Go.

Random encounters are such an outdated concept at this point. There's no sense of adventure to going to a specific patch of grass and walking back and forth to catch a rare pokemon.

Xenoblade chronicles X and Breath of the Wild proved having huge world can work out if they're well designed. It's about time people got to see pokemon roaming the world and actually having to search for that one rare pokemon.

I hate to admit this,too. I have 15 shinies in it, I've never had that many shinies before, the most I've had was 1 per ever 3rd generation.
