Glass_Phantom 06/04/17 9:21:58 AM #1:	I was taught that the path to Heaven is narrow, and steep, and difficult. It isn't hard to tumble off of it... and when we do fall, it's very hard to clamber back up. The other path through life is wide, and flat, and simple... but it doesn't lead anywhere good. Walking God's path means doing what's right even when it isn't popular, or easy... The same goes for the issue of Syrian refugees. We can't allow anger to cloud our judgment... We can't indict billions of innocent Muslims for the heinous crimes of the few. The millions of innocent men, women, and children in Syria aren't guilty of raising the sword against us... They didn't bomb anyone, they didn't stab or shoot anyone, they didn't murder anyone. They only want protection for themselves and their loved ones. Jesus said turn the other cheek... Instead of rushing to anger against all the Muslim faithful, or turning our backs on the atrocities in Syria in the flawed assumption it will offer us some reprieve from terrorism, we need to do what's right. Give these people shelter in our country... Give them our charity, and our kindness, and our love. We are the United States in America, the shining city on a hill, or so Reagan said... a beacon of hope to all the oppressed people in the world. Let us live up to that reputation... Let us be that beacon. Even though it's hard, even though it's unpopular, it is the right thing to do. Letting these millions suffer and die from barrel bombs and poison gas attacks will not do anyone any good... Allowing dispossessed Syrian children to grow up in such deplorable conditions will only breed a whole new generation of Islamist extremists. Indiscriminately helping others can put you, your family, your community, etc. at risk. It's the same reason people are told not to pick up hitchhikers.
