I agree with this depending on the urinal - MOST of them, in my experience, the urine will just drip through the urinal cakes and down the train, with no real need to flush. But if it's one of those urinals that still has a little pool of water with each use, then yeah I'd still flush those.

But why do we need to discuss that anyway? Does flushing require a great deal of effort and mental/emotional deliberation?

It's basically just the principle. When one uses a public urinal, the polite thing to do would to be to ensure that you leave it clean for the next person to use. It's basically being considerate of others and not just thinking of oneself.

More referring to the merge part

I won't let you in if you're being a dick, but I will let you in if you're supposed to be merging in or just trying to get over a lane

I even park in far away spots at stores so that people who actually need the closer spots can park there. I like doing that because nobody ever knows that I'm doing a nice thing. Or at least lying to myself and assuming somebody in need gets the closer spot

While it's a little nasty not to flush, I've come to expect a certain level of depravity in public toilets. He could have flushed but the other guy could have been less butthurt.

Of course. Everyone should flush. It's common courtesy.
