Or didn't wear your shoes inside, that tracked in all that shit, that made your floor filthy.

Trust me, it's not Americans, it's a class of Americans, and I agree, it's disgusting.

It depends entirely on the household, some families do it, some don't.
It's really not typically a big deal here unless you're doing yardwork or stomping through mud since we actually have clean roads and stuff.

Americans have this thing called a shoe house that is typically located in the garage. Each member of the family puts their shoe in a specific slot in the shoe house which is called a shoe room.
