How long is Belle at the Beast's castle? Because her father goes to rescue her before that montage at the beginning of act 2, but that same montage takes place over at least a whole season (winter).

And when Belle uses the mirror to see what her father's doing, he's half-dead in the woods. Was he out in the woods for all those months? And apparently the castle isn't far off, because Gaston and all of the villagers got there in, like, 5 minutes during the Kill the Beast song. Did Belle's father seriously get lost in the woods for months when the huge-ass castle was practically right outside their town?

Which brings up another question. Did those poor villagers SERIOUSLY leave that castle untouched for all those years? Nobody seems to bring up the fact that all of those servants there mysteriously went missing, or that a fucking Prince disappeared without a trace. Did they all suddenly forget about it because of the witch's spell? I find it hard to believe that a rebellious teenager or two didn't break into the castle just to explore and take stuff.

And if they went, and the beast killed them, wouldn't that be a whole OTHER reason for the villagers to check the place out?

Yes. Did you listen to the dialogue in the movie?? They literally say this in the opening when the witch casts the spell on the castle / village.

I thought the live action version made it clearer that the castle (and its immediate surroundings) were in a state of perpetual winter because of the curse.

Um, I always assumed the animated movie started in late fall and ended in early spring.
