It encourages the notion that if enough people can get riled up about something that offends them, then they can get rid of it. It's more destructive than progressive when you stop to think about how anyone can be offended by anything.

And maybe it does glorify something that shouldn't be glorified, but

If anything, just leave the statue up and put a citation block next to it that teaches people the controversy. It would educate people and challenge them to see WHY the statue is considered offensive to many.

The nazi flag has direct negative connotations to it. The confederacy flag has indirect connotations of racism when that's not what it's about. By advocating the removal of the flags you're embracing and cementing this false relation. That causes an indirect revision of history by changing what the Civil War was really about, and simply allows those that do misrepresent the flag to continue doing so, as everyone is going to get their message.

First off, most of the Confederate statues *are* of great Southern heroes who held posts in government -- before and/or after the war -- and were distinguished heroes prior to the war.

Second, the Confederate battle flag is a symbol of freedom and rebellion. And it's a cultural system, not just in terms of counter-culture but also pop culture. You've effectively banned the Dukes of Hazzard.

Third, fuck the SJWs. If you give them their way on this nonsense then they're just going to push for more crap. Like the Washington Monument? It'd eventually be on the chopping block if SJWs get their way.
