has to have a sign in his office "seconds until last paid" and a joyous oven-like ding will sound when somebody, anybody buys their software.

i almost got excited when i saw one of the more recent humble bundles, because i thought it included a copy of winrar, so i was like "omg it'll actually get paid for once"

but no, it was something called winzip, which i thought was just built into windows.

Was it ever explained why they made the WinRAR trial never deactivate? You'd think it would be more effective to simply ask for donations like several other freeware developers, rather than pretend that you're only providing a trial with a 30-day countdown, but no action when the time is up.

One day at least 5 years ago, WinRAR gave out full versions to people who downloaded it on that day only as some kind of promotion. That was the best day of my life.

After years of using the trial version I finally paid for it sometime in 2015.
