Your guy should have been an orphan anyways, like a real adventurer.

One day dude, I'm just gonna get off the bus, and I'm gonna run in the woods and never come back, and when I come back I'm gonna be the knife master!

I remember a long time ago when my group did a 3d edition basic character ( peasant, expert, adept, warrior) evil campaign. The trade off for not being regular character classes was a guaranteed score of 18 on any ability.
My character was a human expert with 18 strength and welded a great maul. The idea behind him was that he and his father were trackers who would be hired by adventurers to help guide them to known adventure sites like Myth Drannor. Once there the adventures would go off exploring while my character and his father would wait a few days. If the adventures came back we would help them get back to town and haul there gear for them. If not we went home with whatever earnings the adventures paid us.
My character of course being young and very strong would argue with his father about not actually adventuring themselves. He'd say why do we help others go into all these places we know about for a pittance when we could go in ourselves and make a fortune. His father of course would point out the dangers involved and the fact that most of the adventures they lead often didn't come back which is why they always paid in advanced.
Then one day a group of adventurers came across my Character and saw his size and strength and invited him to join them. My character being bull headed decided to join them. Of course his father found out and forbade him from doing so. This lead to an argument at there house were my character finally snapped and bludgeoned his father to death. In a panic he gathered his things and started to flee his village. On the way out he ran into 2 local bullies who were drunk and they decided to pick on him a bit. Of course having just murdered his father and in a panicked state he murdered both of them and fled into the woods.
It didn't take long for the locals to figure out what happened with 3 dead people having been bludgeoned to death and 1 person know for using a maul having disappeared. So they hired the adventuring group (the very one he was going to join) to track him down. Over the course of a few days my character using his expertise eventually ambushed and killed them all.( they were all lvl 1 characters) In time he ended up with the rest of my gaming group who were also like minded individuals and we eventually joined the Zentarum (sp?)

He's following a pre-written adventure path that has pretty good reviews and that I really wanted to play. I don't think it's bad. It might give me some good roleplaying opportunities in the future. Since my character is a priest, and her father was a paladin of the same god, I'm thinking that she could be upset with her god and eventually fall from grace to worship a different god.

Well, that's some backstory. Pretty cool and sounds fun though. I certainly haven't read anything like it before.
