What? I actually played 3 more than 2, since I owned 3. I loved using Zan. The stages are pretty awesome, though annoying when 5 samurais are attacking you and a train comes towards you as well.

I have fonder memories of 2 though. Didn't like 1 that much.

the sidescrolling ones sucked. there's no nuance or strategy to them really, you just power through the game and hope you have enough continues/quarters/etc

I like them a lot. I'd say Streets of Rage 2 is pretty much the pinnacle for me. I also loved Turtles in Time.

And it may be an unpopular opinion, but I like Final Fight 2 a lot more than the first one

it's awesome. you can do 4 players. 2 preds, and a male human and a female human. they need to do a remake on consoles like they did TMNT, DnD, Simpsons, Xmen etc. I'd love to play this on xbox or playstation

Senran Kagura is fairly recent, and a River City Ransom sequel appeared a few months ago.
It's only a dead genre for AAA.

they tried to make some 3d ones around the ps1 era. but they didn't do so well and then the genre just kinda died. they need to go back to just 2d classic style. I am sure there are still people who would love to play them.

collision was vague and they weren't sufficiently varied or deep enough to hold my interest

I feel like they should be a consistently used bonus mode for fighting games. I don't think they could hold themselves up as a distinct genre anymore but there's a few fighting games I'd love to see with a mode like that.

streets of rage one is where it's at. best roster, memorable villains and music, and the cop car shooting up the enemies power up>>>>>>>>> using special moves that hurt you as much as it does the enemy lmao

Agreed. I love that game along with most others. I'm a sucker for beat 'em ups. I'll play them no matter the quality.
