Others have to pick up the slack. Also if the person that's on vacation is either the person that knows a system the best or has all the access then that can hinder others from getting their job done until that person comes back.

My old German professor told us about vacations time in Germany and it was kinda crazy. If I recall correctly, every employee gets like 6 weeks of vacation every year or some crazy amount like that and somehow their productivity still blows ours of the water.

No it's better for us to be miserable and work tons of hours for not enough pay, and then be too tired to do anything when we have time off and then die.

Turns out people are actually much more motivated to work harder when they're given substantial time to live a life outside of work. What a strange concept!
