Uncompensated care fell across the board, but by 1.6% of operating costs in expansion states and only 0.3-0.4% in states that elected not to expand Medicaid

That might seem small but, "...Roughly 40 percent of hospitals in our sample had operating margins less than 1.6 percentage points of operating costs in 2011."

1.6% doesn't seem small. That's a large number for what it is representing. All states should expand Medicaid - it's pathetic that the GOP hates the downtrodden.
