With the Comedian fight scene and then the opening credits giving the background to everything with Bob Dylan playing in the background. It was just a poetic intro.

Once Upon a Time in the West is probably my favourite opening sequence/credits. 3 nameless men in duster coats arriving at a trainstation, quietly but menacingly locking the ticketman in a closet and just waiting for a train. No music, just the ambience of this rundown station as they wait for a train.

Watchmen was boring

Im only talking about opening sequences here. Watchmen had a lot of flaws as a movie, though it still gets way more criticism than deserved (mostly because hardcore fans of a source material will always be critical when there's a change of medium), but I've yet to see a better opening in any movie ever, and that's all we're discussing here

I only saw it once the year it came out and have zero recollection of the opening sequence. I just talk a lot of shit.

The opening to Resident Evil Retribution is some pretty crazy shit.

But yeah, the Watchmen opening ain't even that good. I think BvS with the same director and Jeffery Dean Morgan as well was better.

Sets the tone perfectly, gives enough back story to set up the rest of the movie and to let the audience understand the climate the movie is set in, even a good few Easter eggs set in (Bruce Wayne's parents are saved so Batman never exists if you pay attention carefully, for example).

All the flak Watchmen receives both just and unjust, one thing the movie isn't praised enough for is the Dr. Manhattan being "created" sequence. It's absolutely beautiful. To be fair, it's a rather straight forward take as it was (brilliantly) written by that crazy nut job Alan Moore.

But yeah. Dope sequence.

the score in that scene brought it to life in a way just not possible at all with a graphic novel. there are things that the graphic novel did better and was better suited for, but i'd say this is definitely an example of the film being able to do so much more with it.

Yeah brother I reference the score in that sequence immediately. This dark, carnival type sound. Just ties that whole sequence together absolutely perfectly.
