it's also interesting from a sociological conformism perspective. what if we lived in a society where we cut off the ear lobes of kids at birth, or a toe, or some other body part 'because it looks weird' or because of 'hygiene'.
frankly, then you look back and realize that cutting a piece of the penis is even stranger than those scenarios. it's downright creepy what a society can get its people to do if no one asks questions.

then you now have a time where the scientific perspective is debunked, and even people with an education are still doing it. a father's desire to have his sons penis look like his own is also interesting to me. Regardless, the practice is dying and will definitely die. there is going to be this breaking point where it's no longer socially acceptable at all but father will still really identify with being cut and cut their child regardless. the practice will keep going on probably 200 years from now but will persist as a minority group

50 years ago it was common place to hit your children as punishment and no one questioned it. Now child protection services will get called on you if so as much spank your child or let your child walk to school by themselves.
