The first was a great movie and a huge surprise, but 2 just tops it in almost every way. Honestly, the only thing I think the first was better with was developing Peter, but it trades off by adding great characters and developing the existing ones very well.

I really liked it. It doesn't really tie into the rest of the MCU, which is either good or bad depending on who you ask.

Best mcu film

Didn't like it more than Logan but better than all of DC besides the trilogy

I think they fleshed the characters out a lot more because they didn't need to introduce most of them.

The villain was a lot better this time around and the character interactions were really funny.

I was dying throughout the whole film honestly.

Given Marvel's history, I was surprised it didn't have more tie ins. Really, the only references to the larger universe were talk about Thanos(but only in the context of the main characters), and two easter eggs hinting at the next Thor.

I honestly don't think it's fair to compare it to Logan, they're going for vastly different things.

Dear God yes, they turned up the comedy so much. I was afraid they'd overuse baby groom, but everything was well balanced.

I thought the opening with Baby Groot was a little overkill, but other than that he was perfect.

My whole theater was laughing hysterically when he was trying to get the fin.

I was also legitimately pissed when the ravagers were fucking with him.

at first, I thought they might be overdoing it with Drax (like, his whole boisterous laughing was annoying, at first), and by extension, the movie, but that only lasted about the first 15 minutes.

and I ended up enjoying it more than the first one.

movie was ridiculous, and I say that in a good way.

It was about as good as the first one, but I found

- the overuse of Drax as a comic relief
- the emotional-resolution-packed last 30 minutes for every single character on every issue

to be a bit much

Does Drax do stuff in this one?

The first movie made him seem like a less useful Groot (very strong but stupid but doesn't have Groot's abilities)

He's mostly used for comedic effect, but he does get a bit of development.

I agree. The humor was great and the characters were well fleshed out and actually stuck to their character development from the first one. The extra emotion was a little hit or miss, but surprisingly poignant in a few scenes. The action was probably equal to the first. My favorite part was how the plot was basically lifted from a classic sci-fi novel instead of the standard superhero plots we are used to.
