Hypothetically, even if the villain was gay how's that homophobic? Unless their defining reason for being a 'villain' is because of their sexuality and nothing else, I'm struggling to see how it's homophobic.
That's like saying making a female villain is sexist? Because I'm sure if all villains in all shows/movies were male that'll also be called sexist (because why can't females be villains too!)
