Yet punishing people who talk about them? I mean take a look around, this place is overrun with bad troll topics that the moderators allow, even really hateful stuff, and yet they pick and choose to slap people with minor offenses while allowing these hateful troll topics.

It is like they want people to do things they shouldn't do and just enforce the rules when they personally don't like someone.

It's because they don't operate like some kind of police who patrol the board regularly. Stuff gets deleted based on whether or not people mark it, so it's just easier to delete individual obvious infractions than trolling that's really only more identifiable in a long-term context.

They deserve to be criticized because they do a very poor job, which is why it is also thankless.

Want me to be thankful for them? They should do a better job.

To be fair, they worked pretty quick on bernieflanders/panders, but I'm not sure what the exact thing was that got him banned. I wouldn't be surprised if it was on a technicality rather than his constant trolling, but I do remember Lan warning him that what he was doing wasn't acceptable, so maybe for once the mods actually looked at overall patterns instead of individual posts

Yeah I have had people harass me, had to ignore them. Actually, I love ignoring bad and disruptive users, it makes the quality of a board much better.

I also reference the Politics board as my go-to example of a board that's gone to utter shit. the culture there is trash and it looks the moderators don't even bother addressing trolling marks because nearly everyone contributes to it now

That is what I mean. They are like a cop who doesn't do anything when people are looting a store only to bust someone for j-walking. It is no question why people aren't thanking them for the job they are doing, they are useless and only choose to punish non-issues and ignores real ones.

I believe the specific one that triggered his ban was posting "Fair, next" in a topic linking to an article about the Chechnya concentration camps, which was pretty unambiguously going to be modded harshly (the post really did not last long at all). His prior mod history would have contributed to the decision that he just wasn't welcome here anymore after that one.

I'm curious as to which "obvious trolls" TC is talking about, because a lot of people seem to confuse "person I disagree with" and "troll".

SJWs as well, based on what I've had left alone versus what I have had removed. But, I guess there are also bound to be a lot of "I feel marginalized" types on a gaming forum. There needs to be a draft board established solely to thicken some skin.

Gamefaqs.com is starving for users and ad revenue, they can't afford to alienate and lose the few regular users they do have by modding and/or banning when they barely have anyone new signing up
