I mean, I sort of only needed to make friends in grade school because you have to in order to not be that awkward guy sitting alone at lunch, or that guy not talking to anybody during free time in class, or at band events and what have you.

But so far my college experience has been that I go to class, sit through lecture, and then get out and go home without having to stay around for forced social time. It's nice that I don't really NEED to make friends, but on the other hand, I don't have an outlet through which to make friends either. I wouldn't even know where to go and get some. I think I may be friendless for the rest of my life, and that's depressing.

If you can't even make friends at college, you're probably pretty screwed. Of course, if you didn't live at home it would help. A lot of people just end up being friends with people they share a dorm with. If you have classes with labs where you can actually interact with people instead of sitting in a lecture, that helps. Try joining a club on campus.

Friendship is overrated. I prefer keeping people at arms length.
It annoys me when I constantly get invited to social events because I have to come up with excuses not to go.

Even I could make friends in college <_< It's really simple; just join a club or something.

Also, I don't know where you go to school, but if it's a larger university, check if you have an active subreddit. I've made a few irl friends off reddit, and heard about some cool activities going on around campus because of it.

And, I dunno if it's active in your area (it sure isn't in mine anymore), but some of my best buds for a while I met off yikyak/yeti/swiflie.

The easiest way is definitely in-person groups, though. Or lab partners, like chewy said.

To be fair, I'm not at a University yet. It's more of a community college(it was recently made into a state college, but it's basically a community college). I'm transferring to a university this fall.

Didn't read this before I made my edit.

Maybe it's just me, but I've actually had a harder time making friends in uni than I did in CC. Everyone in my upperlevel classes already has a solid group of friends and its tough (though not impossible) to get in. A lot of my best friends this year ended up being freshmen and sophomores who joined groups at the same time I did. Bars and socials definitely help, too.

Part of me wants to live alone so I don't have to deal with the cliche horrible roommate that knows no boundaries, but on the other hand, I'd be passing up the potential opportunity to make a lifelong friend. Plus it'd be cheaper to room with someone.

I'm undecided, but leaning towards rooming.

I lived alone my first year and was extremely lonely. After having a god awful roommate, I'm ready to live alone again <_< Best of luck to you, though.

Where are you going to school? FSU?

Dunno. I got accepted into UF last year but decided against going due to financial reasons. The plan was to get my AA and then go to UF this fall.

Still waiting on my transfer application decision. If that doesn't get accepted I'm also applying to FSU and USF(I'll definitely at least get accepted into the latter).

I sorta wanna go to FSU for grad school but I don't think I'd get accepted :P

You're getting your AA this year? Isn't this your first year in college? What're you studying?

Political science. Thanks to the numerous AP exams I passed I was able to knock a year's worth of classes out so that I can get my two-years' in only one year.

I'm considering going to FSU's school of law after graduating.

The older you get the harder it is to make friends I find. The best you can hope for is acquaintances.

It doesn't bother me. Although I suppose going out with my bro and doing things with him keeps me sane. I also get to socialise with his friends/housemates now and then although most the time I prefer not to but eh.

Yeah, if I actually got to do anything it might be ok. As it is though, my life is spent almost entirely at home and work, either completely alone, or watching my cousin. I literally have no social life.

Pretty sure spending time with your cousin counts as a social life, however meager it may be.

He turns 17 in July, he has the mind of a child, like 7-8 year old would have. I don't think him getting offloaded on me because I have games he likes counts.
