Had this recurring dream that he was falling.
So his dad put a brick under his mattress, and now he just dreamed he was falling with a brick attached to him. He resolved this by making a friend across the street and whenever he had the dream he would wake up, go to the window and shine a flashlight at the the friend's window, who would shine back to let hm know he was still there. For some reason made me think of that short story where the kid sits on the drain at the bottom of his pool and wanks off because the sensation feels nice, then one day something goes wrong and it sucks out most of his intestines.

It's not so much that it's pointless as:
1. If he wakes up, the dream is over so the problem is already solved. 2. If he can wake himself up, he must know it's a dream so what is the problem anyway? 3. How does he know the friend is going to be awake and watching for the flashlight at 3 in the morning? 4. How does knowing that his friend is still there help when he's falling? 5. Wouldn't he realize he's not falling anymore when he looks through his stuff to find the flashlght? --- ... Copied to Clipboard!
