It's primarily a hereditary disease (mostly genetic).
The reason I think it's my fault is because....I think I might have it. I started showing neuropathy in my feet about a year ago. Since I was 14 I've had problems with my legs. Muscle weakness and cramping.

I always thought it was a combination of my lymphoma and past injuries, noe I'm not so sure.
I should get tested, this could be serious. I'm just so afraid that it's true and my future children will all be at risk.

Fuck.

First thought this topic was going to be about how you don't like your son because he likes Country music

I wish that was the case, though. Sorry to hear about the family troubles.

When his mom told me that's what I thought. Then she explained it and my heart dropped.
One of his feet has been disformed since birth, but I thought nothing of it. Now?....

I remember I had a friend over a summer that had one leg that was shorter than the other. I thought it was awesome when he walked on the curb and the street, but kept level.

Hopefully he doesn't have to deal with shit like that.

If it's the case, I strongly implore you to not have any more children unless they're adopted.

I wasn't planning to. At least not yet.
I want to get tested to be sure, but I'm terrified of the results.

If it is the case, is there any benefit in finding it early? Like, can the worst effects be prevented?

Incurable and the only treatment is analgesics and exercise.
Mostly it would just be a factor in whether or not I have more children down the line.

Edit: In exteeme cases prosthetics/surgeries are required. I'm not anywhere near that.

I was 7, it was the first time I had seen something like that. I wasn't trying to be rude, he thought it was cool too.
