Borderlands 2 loot issues:

Incredible legendary guns!
Literally impossible to find any, ever

Each manufacturer's guns have a unique feature!
Some of these features are so worthless (with the payoff being that all the rest of the gun's stats are bad) that you'll never ever use that manufacturer even if it's a super legendary rare ultimate level version. Which it won't be, as you'll never find one of those.

Find amazing loot in special chests!
You'll never find amazing loot in these chests. All of your used guns will be unique weapons dropped from bosses, and any blue or purple guns you'll just get from bosses. Chests are worthless.

345778 quadrillion trillion zillion guns!
Because of the above three reasons you'll maybe use like...5 guns in an entire playthrough.

It improved on Borderlands 1 in literally every other aspect but they managed to really fuck the loot system in some critically damaging ways.

Yeah that was why literally everybody exploited the General Knoxx dlc bug that let you go through his vault as many times as you wanted.

But another bug caused your game save to get fucked up if you did it wrong.

Problem with BL is all the shit is client side so I can just use some hex editor to give me the most OP guns in the game. It's 2017, they need to put shit on server side. Come on man Diablo 2 did it why can't current games do it.

Yeah that was sad. Assault Rifles were harbingers of death in BL1. Scoped burst fire beauties with good power and accuracy. In BL2 they fired like shotguns, but way less powerful and without the spread ("but we kept the lack of accuracy LOL!")

Asides from the chest stuff which is true to the point you have to abuse that one DLC that turns the chest room into General Knoxx 2.0, all your complains are so subjective and pointless i actually fail to see the actual issue with the loot system...

Legendaries impossible to find? did you play the game for more than 1 playthrough, or spent more than 5 minutes farming a specific gun?

Manufacturers not being unique? they are unique, you finding their uniqueness worthless is a completely different subject and it falls to you.

Really, did you ever use a Bandit weapon? There should have been like, one good bandit gun.

And Jakobs. The damage output was not NEARLY enough considering the abysmally slow fire rate and complete lack of elemental effect. Which is a shame, because jakobs made the best looking guns.

It was cool in a way that the manufacturers were all unique but there should have been a closing of the gap as you got to higher level or legendary guns. A high level jakobs should be a one-shot-one-kill gun.

Overall I preferred the nature of the loot system in BL1.

I mean, most of your arguments are pretty poor. Granted there are a large number of useless weapons, but you'll find enough that you shouldn't be picking up white or green weapons very often. As far as the weapon manufacturers go, Hyperion is basically the weak link and they still have plenty of good weapons. Maliwan is weak as hell but is elemental, Torgue is shit for accuracy and speed but does huge amounts of explosive damage, tediore is usually bad except for SMGs ... Yeah actually it's always bad except SMGs, which can be amazing. Dahl is also always bad except for SMGs and I think they do the Spiniguns too, but I don't use those. Bandit is usually shitty, the shotguns can be good though. Vladof has some great pistols and snipers, I think defend ARs as well. So I mean maybe with Bandit guns you have a point, but eh. I agree good items don't drop often enough, The Pre Sequel fixed this to a large degree though. The gun stores in the Pre Sequel are great. Hopefully that's the one thing they keep from TPS, maybe Ice too. They upped the legendary drop rates a while back in a hotfix. They drop pretty often now, I'd say they have it about right. Splitting the legendary and skin drop pools would be nice.

Really it's shields or specific gun types (ARs mostly) that suffer from the game mechanics. Tediore shields are worthless as hell. Maliwan shields are OP as fuck. Any shield can be any manufacturer. And apart from Melee shields and a few special shields like the Bee, Antagonist, Sham, or Rough Rider, it's hard to really have a good shield so you can't really have a character rely on shields alone. Some exceptions might be the Flame of the Firehawk, the Transformer, the Deadly Bloom, maybe good Absorb Shields. Mostly those have specific uses but at least they aren't OP and yet somehow required to fight raid bosses.

Also class mods are done terribly as the majority are worthless, and some characters simply have no useful class mods (Gaige, unless you count the Terramorphus one, or axton with his reliance on Grenadier mods).

Again though it's not guns that have the problem. Oh and also you get OP guns from quests pretty easily in the main game, Dungeon Keep, and Oasis.

^^That was one thing I forgot. Gun stores were pretty bad in BL2 if I remember right. In BL1 you'd occasionally find something amazing, if you could afford it.

Yeah gun stores are next to useless in BL2, it's a legit problem. Even the really good ones such as Torgue Token machines and Seriph Vendors can suck.

You rarely have to do game edits. In fact you basically don't need to in any standard run. The exception is post game, where small variances in equipment that normally requires hours of farming makes it worthwhile.

Well if that's the case then they didn't balance it well. The best guns are easily found, except in the case of the Tattler and the Norfleet. In fact I'm not sure why Pearlescents are so impossible to find, they usually aren't great.

Actually the Tattler is easily found, and Hyperius isn't that hard. There are probably better examples with some of the neat shotguns, though the conference call has a decent drop rate so really it's just stuff like the Tsunami or whatever it's called.

BL1 -> BL2 nerfed the drop rate for legendaries. Eventually (2 years later) they upped the drop rate by 300%, but it was really too late then. The game was fun, but it was less fun trying to get cool good weapons in BL2 than it was in BL.

Not too many orange weapons are going to be heavily used by the player though. I feel like if they are going to have shit tier weapons in the impossibly rare slots that they need to just have more range overall, so that it's the white shields for example that are WTFs, and they can add more colors in.
