“That’s not very good,” Sullivan corrected.

“Really?” Hillary snapped back.

The room fell silent.

“Why don’t you do it?”

The comment was pointed and sarcastic, but she meant it. So for the next 30 minutes, there he was, pretending to be Hillary while she critiqued his performance.

Every time the Yale lawyer and former high school debate champ opened his mouth, Hillary cut him off. “That isn’t very good,” she’d say. “You can do better.” Then she’d hammer him with a Bernie line.

It wasn’t just Sullivan in her crosshairs. She let everyone on her team have it that day. “We haven’t made our case,” she fumed. “We haven’t framed the choice. We haven’t done the politics.”

I wasn't claiming to post a news story

but she wasn't exactly struggling in the primary

She was struggling, just in a different way. She didn't have the traditional "I can't break 10%" sort of struggle, because half the country rallied behind her simply because she wasn't Trump. She struggled because nobody really liked or wanted her. Her support was purely adversarial and not actually, you know, support.

I mean, her rudeness shouldn't automatically label her a bad candidate, which is how I feel about Donald Trump. Why would being mean and snappy make somebody a bad President? As long as she can hold back that temper during important meetings, who cares? And that goes for Trump as well. How they talk to staff, to me, is not representative of how they run their country.

Jfc, liberals and conservatives both, why do you all constantly point out "The other candidate did THIS" when 99% of the time, both candidates are equally guilty of being idiotic pricks? You're all hypocrites, I swear.

It seems to me that had she been able to discuss her primary loss in Michigan without attributing blame to everyone but herself, it would actually have been one of the most important meetings of her career

she’d focused too heavily on black and brown voters at the expense of competing for the whites who had formed her base in 2008.

i have to wonder how she was going to expect to have it all in the dem primaries

she had selected a portion of the base to focus on, and the logical move after winning is to establish herself with the rest, which she tried to do

the problem was that her campaign was so hard-nosed in responding to sanders' criticisms that essentially her efforts to appeal to the white working class voters that were his base came across as fake. she was never going to win a majority of them--too many are just republicans--but she'd have done better nationally had she turned left sooner. it wasn't going to cost her with blacks

I do understand her position, to an extent. It's especially difficult since she was following a two-term president of the same party. Finding a way to thread the needle between status quo and change is hard.

I don't know that she ever really had a message, though, at least not one that was conveyed to voters. I think she's right about that.

She had a message. It was "It's my turn, get out of the way. I earned this." People hated it.

I mean.. her first slogan was "I'm with her"... that's about all you need to know.

It's a shame you hillary supporters didn't have a bit of backbone and voted for Sanders.

But no..you just had to fall in line with the corrupt DNC and their fearmongering.

We deserve Trump. This is what we get.

She has acted like the presidency was her birthright for over twenty years now. She never fought for it and always treated it as her's to ascend to.
And then her campaign. What exactly did she stand for? That whole circus and all those ads, all that money spent and all those stump speeches. Not once did I ever see or hear what she stood for. It was vote for me because I'm a woman. And vote for me because I'm not Trump. That's it. "I'm with her."? WTF?
You can agree with or hate Trump all day long but at least he was saying what he wanted to do even if he didn't have policies laid out.
