healthy snacks. seriously buy a few bags of baby carrots. Also we tend to go jogging so even when we do eat we work it off. Why can't you just fucking jog for 20 minutes a day? Why is that hard for you?

I dunno; why is it hard to smash your hand with a hammer repeatedly for 20 minutes?

Eat more food that's less calorie-dense?

Jogging for 20 minutes burns very, very little calories.

This. Even if I don't eat breakfast I can easily make it till 12:30-1pm before getting hungry. Then I'm good until like 6-7.

Eating when I'm not hungry and/or for whatever other reasons are as bizarre to me as people that don't "need" to drink as much as I do. I eat to keep living. I drink to make life worth living.

At least part of that hunger is caused by your body eating itself in order to consume energy to keep you going (in extremely laymen terms). If you are smaller and have less mass then you consume less energy, therefore you get less hungry when looking at the same amount of food. No different than why women tend to eat so little and be fine.

The real kicker is the other way around. Sitting for more than an hour at a time kills your metabolism stupidly fast. Jogging itself may burn few extra calories but it's the stopping your metabolism from going to absolute shit that's important regarding that.

Jogging for 20 min isn't that long anyway.

Having said, it's been shown that people react differently to exercise concerning their diets; some people develop a "it would be a shame to waste all that hard work" attitude and skip the second helping at dinner. Others say "I worked hard, I deserve a treat" and then have a mars bar.

Ultimately, exercise hasn't been proven to be especially effective for weight loss. It's mostly about diet.

And I hope no fat people read that and take it as an excuse to not exercise. It's good for you and you should do it, and you will get into better shape more easily when supplemented with proper diet control.

The thing is that people want to lose fat specifically, not just weight in general. Diet alone will just make you smaller and retain a higher fat percentage. Exercise helps your body learn that those muscles are still active and not to prioritize breaking those down while losing weight. A pound of fat is much more effective than a pound of muscle when losing weight.

I've noticed that the more food I have on hand the less likely I am to eat, and when I'm running out of food I feel like I could eat forever and never get full. I don't doubt that this is some evolutionary type thing meant to make me look harder for food when I have none.

Sometimes though I can go 24+ hours without eating without even noticing it. I have a lot of days where I'll only eat about 500 calories because I'm too involved with other stuff to bother. It really just depends on my mood and what I'm doing that day.

True, but for a very fat person the ability to lose weight that is mostly fat is exceptional. You aren't going to waste away important and necessary muscle mass before losing the bulk of that weight in fat.

I agree with your general point - exercising and dieting is a better option for sure, but if you had to pick one for a very fat, very unmotivated person - it has to be diet.

Working seems like the best way to avoid eating. Although for me, when I'm not working, I'm always sitting at home doing nothing, which is where I do eat a lot. But fortunately I'm also far too lazy to make meals or go out to eat. I eat a lot of crap, but I'm sure it would be worse if I ate pizza or fast food everyday.

I think for someone obese, I have two general pieces of advice:

1. Drink more water. Make it a rule to consume a glass of water before eating something. Try to drink water between meals. This can help curb hunger a bit and can signal your body that it's okay to be liberal with water usage within your body.

2. Improve culinary skills. By a lot. You'd be surprised at how much unhealthy you can cut out when you have full control of your ingredients and process. If you like eating, why not put in the effort to learn how to make really good stuff anyway.

I don't. I usually eat once a day, sometimes not even, because of money problems in the house. I also don't have a schedule that will allow me to work when in school. I was told it was my fault, that if I really wanted to I could solve all my problems, by several people when I voiced this issue. Yeah, that's definitely why we have poor people...

Dude...

You gotta eat.

Buy some bulk rice, ramen. Bananas are also very cheap. Family size cheerios are also a pretty good bang for your buck.
