Is it valid to do that? You almost alays see IV but every now and then you'll see IIII. Which works mathematically but Iunno if it's a no-no in proper Roman numeral form.

I used to have a beautiful roman numeral clock that I loved, but the IIII drove me absolutely insane to the point that I ended up getting rid of it.

only times i've ever seen IIII for 4 is when someone is counting and the 5 is supposed to be the IIII with a diagonal line going through it but they haven't gotten to 5 yet.
