All these years. I have been deprived of great comedy. I love this type of comedy. Awkward comedy. This show is perfect. Better late than never right?

Yep, if you haven't checked out Trailer Park Boys, I suggest giving that a watch as well.

the first 4 seasons are 10/10. IMO best 4 seasons in TV comedy history, there's not a single bad episode.

5 is just ok, and the show is absolute trash after that and just tries to see how horribly low it can possibly go

With the exception of S8, which deserves every bit of hate & then some, I think seasons 6-9 are better than people give them credit for. S7 is actually one of my favorites because of Threat Level Midnight, Goodbye Michael & the Michael/Holly arc, and while S9 was pretty lukewarm I think the last three episodes did a wonderful job wrapping up the series. I'd also consider S5 to be more than "just ok", if for no other reason than Stress Relief being arguably the best episode of the series imo.

The US Version. Is U.K. Better?

Depends who you ask. I like em both, but UK seemed to be more heavy on awkwardness from what I remember.

there are a few random decent episodes but i could not get into those seasons. the plots become super contrived and i felt like the show lost almost all of the charm of the first four seasons.

the whole office part becomes kind of minimized to the point where the place because more or less a daycare/hangout spot for the adults. the people in the office all become best friends, there are never any personnel changes, and the characters become flanderized to the point where they aren't even human (dwight peeing in jars, kevin becoming mentally handicapped, etc).

basically it goes from being kind of a relateable slice of life to another stupid sitcom where the setting happens to be an office building. steve carrell is strong throughout but there is also a great supporting cast (Jan, for example) and once that's gone and the plotlines are outlandish (how many times is Dunder Mifflin saved from closing?) the show loses all its nuance.

there are a few decent points - holly was a good character, i loved will ferrell / idris elba as the bosses, and Scott's Tots is a top tier episode

The comedy is great. The drama and serious part of the show is very cliché Hollywood propaganda.

Michael is easily the greatest character ever.
Literally understands that to lead a pack of rabid crazies, you must become the craziest rabbi.

you might also enjoy Parks & Recreation. it follows the same style where the characters talk to the camera. it's pretty great.

You know where Hollywood teaches you it's all good to wear shoes inside the house and on the bed and put your feet all over the couches? Yeah that's what similarly I'm talking about.

I've watched The Office and Parks & Rec start to finish at least 10 times. When I need to just turn something on while laying in bed, or I'm out of stuff to watch, it's my go-to.

Season 2 of the The Office (US) is one of the all-time great seasons of TV in history. It's just home run after home run, and it culminates in a finale that I still the best episode of the show. Seasons 3 and 4 can't quite keep up that level, but they're still solid A's and do a good enough job introducing new material to keep it entertaining.

Sadly, the show really falls off in the later seasons, to the point where it starts to become boring. My recommendation would be to just skip to "Niagara" after season 4 and then stop watching, since it serves as a perfect finale.
