Why live near airports (and then complain about it as if you didn't know beforehand you'd be living next to an airport)?

I actually live close to LaGuardia Airport, though not directly, there's still a considerable distance, and it's actually not so bad now for some reason compared to how it used to be years ago. Years ago I did find it unbearable how much noise the planes would make at certain hours of the day and night - I found it to be an eerie or creepy sound, and on gloomy days it had an extra creepy effect on me, it was just too noticeable, and quite frequently at certain hours.

Now, it's changed, but it did bother me for the longest time, I still hear the planes outside my window every so often, but they're not anywhere near as loud as they used to be.

I live near an airport, but it's regional so it gets way less traffic. You only hear planes when they do air shows in August.
