Not really. There's been a long tale behind it.

- Game was announced for PS4. Not called exclusive
- Developer says game wouldn't exist without Sony
- Sony Ireland Twitter account says it's exclusive
- Sony Ireland Twitter deleted that tweet and says it's timed
- Demo representative mentions a PC version on a showfloor
- Marketing materials mention PlayStation exclusive. But doesn't appear to be on the actual case or box

I'm leaning towards timed/marketing exclusive at this point. There still hasn't been someone high up outright saying it's exclusive after all of this time. Generally that stinks of timed exclusive with full marketing rights.

That actually won't be a bad first year for Switch if all those come out.

I'm also still hoping that we still get either Days Gone or the new God of War this Year.

Sony always wins baby

I love how they don't count games like God of War or Days Gone which seem to be near locks for this year, but they count Switch games that have literally been confirmed to 100% be coming out NOT this year. Also BotW isn't console exclusive. I guess the Switch's list needed some padding.

EDIT: There's also several straight up non exclusive titles on that list too lol

It's not limited to Nintendo. hey list stuff like Persona 5 as well.

I think by 'console exclusive' they also mean if it's exclusive to the console brand maybe? But then they include late ports too so I dunno.

You're right about BotW if that's their reasoning, but that says nothing about my mentioning of the games that are confirmed for 2018. Fire Emblem Switch and SMT Switch for example are explicitly not coming out until next year at the earliest, and Shovel Knight and Rayman aren't even brand exclusives.

Looks like some heavy padding out like I said, otherwise they wouldn't need to even mention those.

I know. As I said I didn't make the list. Stuff like Parappa the Rapper and Wipeout collection are listed for PS4 as well so I don't think it's just padding. Just throwing in anything that's sorta included.

Shovel Knight: Spector of Torment is a timed exclusive for Switch. No idea what the logic is for Rayman. Probably the same as the PS4 remasters.

Aren't a bunch of the Xbox exclusives also coming to PC? I know for sure Cuphead was slated for that.

Anyways, didn't know Octopath Traveler was going to be Switch exclusive. Already planning on getting the system for BotW, so this is a nice surprise.

It's also wrong. Several of those games are multiplatform. Dragon Quest Heroes 2 is also a switch game, for example. (It's also on PC but if you count that then you gut almost the entire list.)

Console exclusive includes a possible PC release. Otherwise they call it like 'PS4 exclusive' or whatever.

So Street Fighter V is a console exclusive and Horizon: Zero Dawn is a PS4 exclusive for example.

Yeah marketing likes to get technical lol

I disagree. We've heard from multiple sources at this point that it was playable from start to finish as early as December among various other things. March seems too far out. Horizon only released then after a delay, and it wasn't nearly as complete as God of War is now over a year before release.

I don't see the point of calling something not an exclusive when it comes out on 2 generations of a console owned by the same company. Like in the end, it's inconsequential, and to call it padding is also very inconsequential to any discussion other than just eliminating valid points to fit a narrative.

^^^This is what I'm mostly referring to. There were other sources I've read as well, saying things like the shooting and voice acting being finished around that time as well. That, plus some GoW ads in certain countries are what make me think 2017 is very likely. At least 70-75% chance.

I think Sony avoids the holiday period on purpose at this point with their AAA games.
The Last of Us
Order 1886
Uncharted 4
Horizon: Zero Dawn

All seem to follow that trend. Surely not all of them got hit with a similar delay.

I'm not sure if God of War releasing during the busy season is smart. March is probably better for it. If Days Gone and God of War are set to release at a similar time I suppose it's possible.

Most of those delays had reasoning though. Definitely doesn't seem intentional. Especially with things like Uncharted getting delayed even further. The holiday excuse makes no sense with them delaying it then.

No, you didn't mention Playstation uk recently supporting it yet again.

Ehh I dunno. Sony AAA exclusive have been early-year window for the last 4 years now. Only exception is Last Guardian and that's pretty different.

Sony is gonna have marketing deals for Destiny 2, Battlefront 2 and probably COD to sell the PS4. This has been their tactic for a few years now.

Only way I can see it happening is if Days Gone is set for early next year. No way it's both of them this year.

Then again they both need to stay far away from Red Dead 2

If those release September-Early October there's still plenty of time for them. Especially since most people will end up buying their games anyway, especially around holiday season. CoD didn't stop many if any from buying FFXV.

Just like I'm sure God of War and Days Gone will have their reasons.

How does Uncharted 4 disprove anything? It was announced with a vague '2015 window'
Then it got a release date of March 2016
Then it got hit by two more delays.
It's just how it goes sometimes. I'm sure March was their ideal release date they targeted when the game really was taking shape.

Final Fantasy doesn't have the same market as God of War. I just don't see them messing with a March release for the franchise since it's worked out well for them so far for God of War. This year it will be competing with Destiny 2, Battlefront 2, Call of Duty and Assassin's Creed on the Playstation alone. It can't avoid all of them.

Spider-man is on a level that a holiday release would be fine but I don't think that will be ready.

But if the sole reason for the delay was to avoid holiday season, it would make no sense to delay it even further. The further delays imply that they weren't finished with it.
Your whole argument is based on extreme conjecture.

I never said it was the sole reason. Likewise considering the fact that they needed to delay it further it's obvious they never really intended or made a strong commitment for it to be released in 2015.

Besides they haven't even given a release window for God of War or Days Gone anyway. Whatever their release date is it won't be a delayed one.
