Although still nearly two months away from release, “Wonder Woman” is on a path to earn $83 million in its opening weekend in North America. According to long-term projections by BoxOfficePro, the Warner Bros. will likely finish its domestic theatrical run with about $225 million.

While those are both impressive figures, they would be the lowest to date of any releases in the fledgling DC Extended Universe.

The studio’s shared superhero universe officially began in 2013 with director Zack Snyder’s “Man of Steel,” which opened with $116 million on its way to a $291 million U.S. total. It continued last year with Snyder’s “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice,” which introduced Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and kicked off its $330 million domestic run with a $166 million debut weekend. Director David Ayer’s “Suicide Squad” bowed in August with $133.7 million before ending its North American run with $325 million.

Assessing the film’s pros and cons, BoxOfficePro notes “Wonder Woman” benefits from positive reaction to the character in “Batman v Superman,” social-media buzz and an opening comfortably positioned a month between Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2” and “Spider-Man: Homecoming.” However, lukewarm response to the previous entries in the DCEU and undoubtedly stiff competition from the likes of Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” and Universal’s “The Mummy” may work against the Patty Jenkins film.

That said, long-term box office projections aren’t always reliable, and much can change as Warner Bros. cranks up the marketing machine in the weeks before “Wonder Woman’s” release.

“Wonder Woman” tells the story of the Amazon princess who, after discovering the body of American fighter pilot Steve Trevor washed ashore on Themyscira, sets out to bring an early end to World War I.

I'm only seeing this in theaters if it gets good reviews. I'm guessing I won't be seeing this in theaters.

Well to be fair the series has two trash movies under it's belt so far so it's going to be a harder sell to get asses back in seats for DC. Even BvS didn't really make that much relatively speaking in the grand scheme of things like compared to TDK or Marvel movies like The Avengers. Or shit even by shitty action movie standards like Transformers and shit.

I'm a huge, huge comic book fan, DC and Marvel, and I have about as much interest in a Wonder Woman movie as I do in a She Hulk film. There are better and cooler characters they can make films about.

Wonder Woman isn't rushing into being a team-up movie nor is it being directed by Snyder so hopefully it's the first DCEU movie to crack that 'good' barrier.

It is the only DCEU film that looks good but I will wait for reviews, will not be surprised if it is another bomb.

I truly do also, for the sake of DC and it's future. They need a sleeper to knock it out of the park, like Guardians of the Galaxy did for Marvel. NO ONE expected that movie to do what it did.

Who said it was bad? If DC movies have had a good reception then yeah it would probably be higher but I wouldn't say that's bad at all. Besides a lot can change between now and release.

I don't see the problem. It's not like the others performed poorly in the slightest.

$83 million is the projection that WB is hoping they will meet at a minimum.

It's not "on track" to anything yet. That's just what they're hoping for.

What's sad is that if this movie underperforms at the box office, they'll say it's because audiences don't want to see a female-led superhero movie and not because the public has low faith in DC movies.

The only people that want to see Wonder Woman are radical feminists. Not because they want to enjoy it, but they want to pick the movie apart and look for ways to prove that the patriarchy is ruining women.

people like this won't see the movie. They'll watch clips, draw conclusions about it, and then complain about the movie they didn't watch. See: Anita Sarkeesian's Bayonetta review.

Minimum? Surely it won't be a flop if it doesn't hit this lol.

It's not a flop if it makes $82 million, it just means it undersold expectations.
