that's absolutely ridiculous

how can you pay 500 quid and not be guaranteed to fly? flights are fucking expensive in the first place. how can airlines be so greedy to do that?

Then they get mad when some noob from the back of the plane comes running up to the gate when they call for section 1 to start boarding.

The funny thing is that a shitload of people just learned this, and I will bet you anything that some lawmaker is going to go for quick and easy political points and propose legislation to ban overbooking of flights as a result of this.

Well the other option is to make everyone pay more for their ticket in line with the statistics that say x amount of people will miss a flight just to guarantee everyone a seat

Also the 1%ers in 1st class don't get bumped off a flight so #poorpeopleproblems

i've flown around a few times and i've always assumed you'd just get a free upgrade to first or business class

i didn't know they can refuse you boarding the plane altogether and try to offer you flight vouchers in compensation

I mean I've always known this, but there are many people that miss flights so this doesn't usually impact people and keeps ticket prices down.

Furthermore people are almost never kicked off a flight. They offer people the next flight, board, vouchers and cash to get them to take the next flight. Someone usually takes this.

Lastly on the very rare chance your actually bumped the law dictates what they have to to do for you which I believe includes all those incentives offered to volunteers.
